32-year-old Forbath hasn't kicked in a regular season game since he was with the Jaguars in '18. He was also the Vikings' full-time kicker two seasons ago. Nick Folk (appendectomy) isn't expected to miss more than one game, so Forbath will likely be a one-week fill in for Sunday night against the Texans.

The New England Patriots have made yet another change at kicker, signing Kai Forbath, the team announced Friday. In a related move, New England released kicker Nick Folk.

Folk had to be released to make room on the roster for Forbath. had he been put on IR he would certainly be lost for the season and NE would be stuck with the new kicker if he sucks or searching for another.

What he does have is the smarts to know that you need a kicker you can rely on. Life after Gostkowski has been tough.

I think BB knows that sometimes 3 points is a good thing. And when you can't count on it like he's used to doing, it changes things up. Like no Gronk almost.

I liked Folk as a Poke. He fell from grace like so many kickers do.

But he wasn't doing poorly with the Pats. So he'll be back for now once healthy.

Unless of course this latest Kicker.ver.xxxx is better than sliced bread.
