I had my own spreadsheet that had the games down the side and participants along the top. I typed in their picks and used my own abbr as well. Had no one to blame but me if they didn't turn out right. Form did get quite long by the end of the season as I kept each weeks results on their own line week to week so by the end it had a lot of data on it.

I was thinking last year about making a PHP form for it and just hosting it on my website with a link here just so it could all be automated more or less, but when the site moved over we were told there might be software coming that could integrate it right into the site so I didn't waste my time. Still hoping it's something that gets added sooner or later.
I copy the entire sheet each week into a new tab and have the YTD totals at the bottom. The spreadsheet does all the math for me, it's just becomes a data entry thing so as long as the data is entered correctly, there should be no problems. Copying the sheets into new tabs creates a lot of tabs for the year but at least is all segregated.

I have some ideas on ways to manage this better but I'll need to poke around a bit before I introduce them to y'all.

Thanks for the feedback Wiz!

That's kind of what I did. I created a new tab each week that carried over the totals, but not the individual games. I'd change that section to the new games for that week and just leave the totals at the bottom. Sounds like the same shit really.

It still may be possible to host a sheet on google drive and let people enter their own, but if you can't even get people to just highlight one little thing here what are the odds they won't screw that up? :noidea:

Really, just having people bold their choices and predict one score has been a trainwreck. Don't think asking everyone to post their picks on a shared Google sheet would be smooth going...

I was thinking the same thing, we have a bunch of newbies, I hope they last since we are putting in the work to include them. (Don't flake @clarkson23devils :heh:)

Anyone of the oldtimers come to mind Wiz?

No problems....

I actually prefer it this way mamba!

Dude if I could get you to put the lines in using these team names and then get everyone to send their picks in like you just did, I think it would work out so much easier....

WSU PRST RUTG WYO

South
ARIZ UTSA NEV NAU

Vita, Mamba was the one I was thinking of. He likes to wait until the last minute and sometimes gets busy and misses a week. Just was a bump to make sure he got in and it worked. :thumb:

Fuck everyone else.

I understand 100%!

On my spreadsheet, I have all the old CBSers from the first PAC Pickems and then everyone else to the right in alphabetical order.

Well that took a long freaking time. There are 24 players in total.

I will assume the intent in each case in all the quotes below as the most obvious. If you want to do something out of the norm, than the poster must make note of it.

That said, moving forward, if you all would please just list the teams you want to cover, and the final score in the tiebreaker for each team it really is a lot easier to compile. As Wiz mentioned earlier, transferring the data goes a lot smoother when you don't have to stop and think about what the poster wants to do.

This will be the last time I mention this but there were still a few posters who left some details out that slow me down. (If you want to see what I mean, send me your email in a PM and I'll send you the spread sheet so you can try it)

Texas A&M vs Arizona State +3 1/2 (41-30)
Easier if the tiebreaker was listed as 41-30 ASU

Texas A&M vs Arizona State +3
Easier if the cover was listed as ASU

Texas A&M 28 Arizona State 38
Easier if the cover was listed as ASU

Arizona State 45 A&M 24
Easier if the cover was listed as ASU

Texas A&M vs Arizona State +3 1/2 (28-23)
Easier if the tiebreaker was listed as 28-23 ASU

Thanks!

What's nice about the spreadsheet, if I choose, I can easily drill down midweek info.

For instance:

After the Thursday night games....

Players with a 2 points
  • SUBuddha
  • BUSC
  • NDdulac
  • hokie
  • jim
  • jefe
Players with zero points
  • Vita
  • DayMan
  • VLF
All others have 1 point
