Interesting read on Dusty Baker. No Ranger material but big on human element. Funny that whole mgt mess in DC.

NEW YORK -- New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia made baseball history Friday, becoming the first player to be permanently suspended by Major League Baseball for performance-enhancing drug use.

MLB announced the suspension Friday, saying that Mejia tested positive for Boldenone and that the right-hander also is permanently suspended from playing minor league baseball.

Saw the news on Mejia the other day and found it interesting that after serving a year suspension, I think it is, that he can apply for reinstatement by commish Manfred. Thought a lifetime ban was supposed to be for life?

Jenrry Mejia first player to get permanent ban for 3rd positive PED test

It marked his third positive PED test in the past year, triggering the lifetime expulsion.

Mejia, 26, may apply to commissioner Rob Manfred for reinstatement in one year. If reinstated, he would have to sit out a minimum of two years before being able to pitch again in the majors. If an application is made and denied, Mejia could ask baseball's arbitrator to end the ban, claiming the penalty is without "just cause.'' The arbitrator cannot reduce the ban to less than two years.

Mejia told Dominican sports journalist Hector Gomez in Spanish: "It is not like they say. I am sure that I did not use anything."

Sure thing guy, everyone believes you didnt use anything, any of the 3 times?

He may not be a harbinger of things to come, but he certainly could make them willing to deal Moreland if they feel they have to add another player mid season. They might have to get rid of some salary to take on some salary and if Davis performs well in the minors they might be more willing to trade Mitch. It is still not likely, but a tad more possible now.

hope that we are not counting on Davis for anything but a minor league filler

I agree. I think our starting pitching is going to be just fine.

Texas Rangers predictions: USA Today projects Wild Card berth

Texas Rangers predictions: USA Today has come out today with what they call their "semi-scientific stab" at the final standings for all six MLB divisions, and they have the Texas Rangers finishing at 85-77. While that slots them behind the projected first-place Astros (who are at 90-72), it is good enough to get a spot in the Wild Card game, playing at Toronto (who is projected with 86 wins).
