Source: MLB not investigating Rangers’ Yu Darvish for gambling

Major League Baseball is following its standard protocol as it looks into a gambling case involving the brother of Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish, but a baseball source said the idea that Darvish himself is being investigated is “untrue.”

“The idea that anything is specific to Yu Darvish is untrue,” the source said.

The Rangers, a second source said, are not concerned that Darvish is facing any punishment that would affect his availability in 2016 once he is deemed healthy after Tommy John surgery 10 months ago.

Brocail, Banister brawled when they first met; Now they agree on one thing for Rangers' pitchers: throw inside | SportsDay

Banister and Brocail share one more important trait. Both want a staff that pitches inside.

"We're going to buy some real estate," said Brocail, who pitched that way during a 15-year major league career with four clubs, including the Rangers.

The subject came up with the young pitchers who assembled for this minicamp. It will be repeated throughout spring training. It likely will cause hard feelings at some point when opposing hitters get clipped...

"Pitching inside is going to happen," Brocail said. "You have to have that mentality. If you throw 95, you can scare guys. If you throw 90, you still have to do it. I'm not asking you to pound guys and break ribs. I'm asking you to buy some real estate."

Throwing inside is part of the elemental struggle between pitchers and hitters. Banister calls it "the line of scrimmage" for baseball.

The Rangers have a better chance of winning that turf war, Brocail believes, by pitching inside. Make the hitter move his feet. Even better, make the hitter uncomfortable.

"Pitching inside is an art," Brocail said.

Jonathan Lucroy wants to be traded and here are some options

Texas Rangers (21st in projected WAR): Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez. Chirinos was a pleasant surprise last year, hitting .232/.325/.438 in 273 plate appearances, but that was the result of slugging .494 against left-handers. He's a 32-year-old guy without any upside and the Rangers traded Jorge Alfaro, their top catching prospect, in the Cole Hamels deal. Trade talks: This has been a rumor all offseason and the Rangers have a highly rated farm system, so there's a likely match here. Would Texas part with Joey Gallo?

Heard they were asking for a deal close to what the Marlins were asking for Fernandez.

If they are then Lucroy will be in Milwaukee for the rest of his baseball life. And I can't imagine they are this delusional to even begin any well meaning negotiations with a stance like this.

The No Darvish thing is getting aggravating, obviously the Rnagers cant make the guy make an appearance but this is year 3 and he hasn't shown up for one FanFest.

Anyway I got my Fastpass again and I will get all the others

I'm the same way... if you almost double the cost of a fastpass... you'd think everyone would be there. May have to skip it next year and just whore myself out in Surprise to get him to sign. haha.

what's crazy is that when I was at ST 2 years ago, Darvish signed the most out of all players, and it wasn't even close.
