I guess you forget the shellacking Jerry got for the Switzer hire. The Switzer hire or the Wash hire? Give me Switzer every day of the week over Wash.

Jones should have been blasted for the hire. It was a joke, but Jones got to show the football world what a genius he was with, "500 coaches could coach this team and win a SB" comment. And the team has pretty much sucked since. Congratulations.

But for the record, Switzer went to one SB and the Boys won it.

I was thrilled to see Wash hit the highway outta town. But we did win playoff games under him and this was a first in franchise history. Won divisional championships and went to the WS as well.

Switzer helped put the Cowboys in a 20 year nose dive, and Wash helped put our baseball franchise on the map.

You can keep Barry all day long.

Jones forgot to say that 500 coaches could not have built this football team. They could only coach it because of what Johnson did in constructing a team that went from the bottom to the top and that was a great team on both sides of the ball.

I do not think Wash would have led this team to a division title last year. He is too robotic and stinks at in game moves. We would have been bunting ourselves into oblivion. He was great in bringing about a great clubhouse chemistry that is still intact. But that 2011 team should have been champs.

Not sure where Nick would fall if still with the Rangers. We have Mazara and Brinson so I think we could afford to let Williams go so we kept the right player. Alfaro seemed to have lost some appeal here but time will tell on him and Thompson. I still like having Hamels for another year and was on board with the trade. But can understand anyone who would think differently.

Don't forget about Eickoff. He has already had a some success with them. He had a 2.65 ERA with them in 8 starts with almost 9 K's per 9 innings.

Then there is also Harrison who wasn't diagnosed with a thyroid condition until he went there. If that thyroid treatment gets him to be able to gain some weight and strength and he gets some more velocity as a result then he could become a significant piece of that trade as well.

When I read yesterday that he had had a few starts in his career I jokingly wondered if the Rangers would try to make him a starter. Sure enough they actually are.

Yes, it was a terrible hire and so was the hire of Wash. I think it can be argued that we went to those postseasons in spite of Wash and not because of him. Their inability to coach wasn't what I was really trying to get across though, but I know the mention of either is going to bring up thoughts of their ineptness. lol

HOF results announced today... how great would it be if Griffey, Jr. got the first unanimous entry?

I'd love it. But it won't happen. Just too many old farts have that "he's not getting my vote b/c so-and-so wasn't a unanimous selection" type attitude.

Also.............Another big free agent appears to be off the market, as Alex Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal to return to the Kansas City Royals, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney.

Im sure thats why it was a minor league deal, not sure he even hits the ML roster as a BP arm unless its long man type. Unless he has a tremendous ST or something, I see him as SP depth in the minors probably

I just can't help but think of Scheppers and Robbie Ross when they attempt to make a reliever a starter.

All I can think now, when I hear of these type of projects, is they are taking a gamble and aren't too high on the guy. When they've done it in the past, I think they actually thought it would work well. We have seen the opposite in my opinion. When they do it now, they cant expect it to have a high success rate, I wouldnt think?

I wish we could trade a relief pitcher for a AA starter at some point. Kind of like when we acquired Thompson and Ranaudo. I would rather go that route than try to turn a relief pitcher into a starter for depth.
