I have no problem at all with him making a family decision, as opposed to being a missing parent for about 7/8 months outta the year. He does have some extenuating circumstances after all. Plus, it was part of the reason which got him to Arlington to begin with, and was also part of why he went to Philly as well.

Nothing at all wrong with putting your family first. I just wasn't a fan of how Lee's agent presented the situation. The way I read it, it was basically "Cliff may or may not come back. He doesn't really know. Yeah, he's working out, but he'll probably need an extended offseason to get to where he needs to be. Oh, and he'll pretty much only consider teams who will contend, if he decided to come back at all."

Lee made 27.5m in 2015 and didn't throw a pitch, and he's already getting 12.5m for 2016 no matter what happens. He doesn't need to come back for the money. If it's to win a championship, then I get that. Just wish that had been a factor before (in 2010/11). And if that's the case, then just say that. Because given his age and his health situation, I'm not sure a contending team needs Lee as much as he thinks they do.

Ya know, isn't it astounding how detached some athletes become from the real world? I guess when you're 25 and you've always been treated with kid-gloves, this is their "real world.

Most of us here, would could consider it a generational, life changing situation to win anything close to 27.5 million in a lottery. Yet, these guys make this per season, and most of it is "earned" before any of them turn 40.

But then again, it's us, we the fans/supporters, who go out to games, buy jerseys/watch or listen to broadcasted games, respond to advertising messages, etc which make them feel so anointed perhaps.

and, it's probably a lot of sour grapes on my part that he spurned the Rangers after '10.

I agree. I can be pragmatic and forgive but I doubt he is worth it. Guess he has to be scouted to see if there is anything left in the tank. We can use some minor league SP depth though

MY pretty candid and super encourager of Elvis. To me focus has been an issue, talent has not. Love to see Profar step up. Competition never hurt anyone

Wasn't just that game. 22 errors last year. Way to many.

That ranked him 2nd in the AL. You're right, way too many mistakes.

Next season, I'd like to see him do better, obviously, but I'd also like to see him get more rest. Not trying to make an excuse for him, but he did play almost 100 more innings last year (about 1400) than he did in 2014.

I don't really put acquiring Colby in the heavy lifting category.

Nor should you.

And I'm still surprised he didn't get more money than he did.

Yes, they lift with their prospects and not their wallets. lol

prospects are just that prospects there is no guarantee that they will pay off in the long run and depending on the fact they will could have long term impact on their wallets

okay i see that as a mid-season move but i can see where you are coming from

it was, but I've seen it stated in many articles that as far as the Rangers go, that move was so big that it basically encompassed what they would/could have done this offseason.
