get us some good players loc .. we need em

here's who we have taken so far

1.24
Dont'a Hightower, Alabama
6.2, 270. 3-4 SILB (Buck), starter by week 5
A lock in the middle for 10 years. Strong at POA, excellent blitzer, can stack and shed quickly, excellent instincts. Needs Safety support OTT on deep coverage duties against elite TE's. Plays under control but hits hard and likes to intimidate. Very familiar with basics of our D as Bama runs highly similar system

2.50 (trade up, gave up 5th in 2012, and 2013 4th
Ronnell Lewis, Oklahoma
6.2, 255. 3-4 OLB/kick coverage destroyer/(and LB depth across all 4 positions like Timmons), replaces James Harrison after this season after rotation/situational play this year. Has frame to add 10-20 #s and not lose explosiveness if needed. Huge upside, needs a bit of coaching. Unbounded athletic potential. Plays under control but violent. Will Excel as a rush OLB due to having similar leverage/strength advantages as Harrison against most OT's

3.86
OG Brandon Brooks, Miami OH
6.5, 355, and FIT. Very reasonably nimble footed. Can play LG or RG but will depend if they want him as a pull blocker. Equally suited for MBS but also suited for ZBS if we ever switch to it (I think we should) . Starter by week 4-6 due to need, should ideally not start until Season 2. Solid starter for 6-10 years unless he loses control of his weight. Looks to use his hands well and understand leverage.

I'm sure you can guess positionally where I'm looking in the 4th....

i dont think its time to replace harrison yet though

It's more insurance against his age and a motivation to restructure his contract ;). Seriously though, the guy is built pretty similar, and plays exactly the similar way (with same limitations really). He is the perfect guy to learn under him for 1-2 years. I feel if he'd played in the SEC where D coaching is actually valued, he'd be a top 10-20 pick based on his athleticism and the stats he would have produced there.

Though I tend to agree because we are re-tooling not rebuilding. But Harrison is going to be a bigger liability this year. GodDell is gunning for him and he hasn't helped himself.

yup, even if he keeps improving his "play by the rules" approach, Harrison is one accidental hit away from an 8 game suspension. I don't think his play fall off last year was just because of his back, but because he's "thinking" too much on the field.

I also think you prolong harrison's career significantly by getting him off the field for 30-50% of the snaps a game he's playing . Lots of back injuries get re-aggravated when you're tired and your form slips
