Nice season opening win for the Pens today

:pop2:

I'll be back shortly with some videos of guys I like for us to target in this years draft.
It's getting to be that time. Funny enough, we'd have been better off following several of my ideas than what we actually did , last year.

Warmack, OG, Alabama

unfortunately, our week 17 win against the Browns put us out of contention for this guy unless we trade up. An interior of DeCastro, Pouncey, and Warmach would be quite solid though both in run game, and in keeping BigBen upright. It would allow us to say goodbye to fat Willie IR Colon. too bad. well, we can dream. Maybe he'll fall just as DeCastro did. Guard just isn't sexy, no matter how good the player is. He plays as strong and violent as Larry Allen did in the 90s. Just amazing the way he abuses whoever is in front of him on his primaries.

My only concerns are that 1) is he seems to show some poor balance when contacted @ the 2nd level while unsuspecting, This wouldn't typically affect the outcome of a run, but as Gilbert has shown, poor balanced OL can hurt those around them. 2) shows some poor footwork against speedy swim moves and spins. Surely this can be coached up. (Relies too much on natural strength to defeat this move) Occasionally shows some insight/finesse to just redirect rushers/DL without exerting enoguh effort to take himself out of play at the 2nd level or to chip; not sure how much more he can be coached up with respect to this though. Even still, if we only had to trade up 1-2 spots to get him around 15 it might be worth it . Hell BigBen would love to know that he has a firm pocket to ALWAYS step up in when the edge rush comes. Nobody would touch him from inside the tackles. Drafting him would also mask our terrible RB situation for a year or so. Without Mendenhall, and without Rainey, our RB corps is very geared towards interior running. You might could feature Dwyer behind this trio, at least for a year, freeing up a midround draft pick this season that other wise needs to go to RB.

Speaking of Alabama,
here's a guy who will (with a good combine showing) go right around our pick @ 17.

look at improvement in a single year. wow.

If we cut Big Snack, Ta'Amu will be in jail soon.... our NT depth chart will be McClendon and Fangupo. I actually like Fangupo a lot, but the way we use NT, he can't be an every down guy in LeBeau scheme. This guy is stronger coming out of school than Hampton while carrying less weight and far more mobile on his feet (a plus against ZBS like Houston, etc run and gash us with). Can probably play from 0 to 7 technique in our system. Seems to have enough stamina to play everydown. Obvious weakness is that he wants to perform assignment while doing extra- works at NCAAF level, not so much at NFL. Seems bright in interviews. Grew up playing violently in rugby. Could probably add 20 pounds to frame while losing minimal speed and agility. Might not be as good as Haloti Ngata, but parallels are there. Biggest strength is apparently can shed block even while being held. When was the last Steeler DL that could do that when needed? the 70's? We have a big need at NT (not our biggest though), and taking this guy seems quite natrual in Rd 1. Personally, I'd trade down from 17 (with our 3rd or 4th rounder) and try to get about a 27-28 and a 38-40. I'll highlight some guys for those later tonight ..
