They can place him on the NFI list if he does decide to retire and it voids all that money, I believe.

I know there is avenues if he retires. But I guess I am thinking if he goes even more full diva & just refuses to play. paperwork has to be sent for actual retirement. is there any kind of a "bad faith" type thing the team would be able to pursue or something.

Well I guess it depends on what happens with refusing to play. I would imagine that would mean him just straight up not showing up for pracitces or games, which I think means they could use the NFI/exempt list. But other than that I think they're stuck.
