So why couldn't Shanahan pull it off in 2013? He couldn't get it done in Houston either.
Terry, you come on here and act like you are uber knowledgable about this team. But clearly you do not know it well. It is well documented what happened between RG3 and Shanahan in 2013 and why this relationship failed miserably. Do your research before you come onto our site and act like you are the smartest guy in the room about this team. Because you are far from it. You claimed the RG3 trade and draft was not a reach. At that point it was very clear you know nothing about what you post on this topic.

We already have one know it all that can't admit when he is wrong. We put up with him as he is atleast a fan of the team. We don't have room for two.

It's not a matter of being nice. If you have already come to the conclusion that I don't know what I'm talking about then why are you talking to me about it still? Ignore me. What does that the first response add to the conversation? Nothing at all. Like I've said, there's ways to have conversations with people who you disagree with without the insults, most of you just choose to ridicule me about my opinions. I'm not acting like I"m the smartest guy in the room. I look at stats, I see the trends, and the statement that Shanahan has improved every offense he's touched is statistically incorrect. He improved the Atlanta offense and the Redskins offense for 1 year.

Me and @Sharkinva disagreed, there was some tension but guess what? It became civil after that. Wow! What a concept! Two people who disagree having a civil conversation about the topic they disagree on?! Not on the Redskins board!

Cant speak for any one else. But my take is you have your opinion. I dont agree with it, and i try to be civil when i explain WHY I disagree. NOw i also think at some point you were a RG3 fan, and thus developed a dislike of Kirk based on how things went down. Thats cool to, Im used to it when the name RG3 comes up.

So I wont say you dont know what you are talking about, but more that your opinion of both players was formed, and you are to a degree sticking by your initial feelings.

Again thats cool too.

I actually have never been and currently am not a fan of RG3. Kirk Cousins is the much better QB by far. He's one of those QBs that was a great college QB, not a very good NFL QB. My whole opinion on RG3 is that, I understand Washington gave a lot up for him, and he delivered for a season but then shit the bed. I get that. But he's 1 of only 2 QBs to give the Redskins a division title in the last 17 years. You can't get mad at RG3 for what the front office did to get him. You can get mad at him for 2013, but RG3 brought the Redskins from the bottom to the top in 1 season. Gotta give him credit for that. My whole opinion on Kirk Cousins kinda stems from these outrageous QB contracts getting handed out to guys like Derek Carr and Matt Stafford who hasn't earned that money yet. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the game right now. QBs are in high demand and the supply of great QBs are limited. I don't think Cousins is worth that much because he's a .500 QB and he's proven that over his 3 full-time starting seasons and when he filled in for RG3. But the fact that Stafford, who also isn't worth that money, got paid, Cousins will more than likely get paid as well.

Also, I appreciate you being the more grown up one of the board and not always being insulting over differing opinions.

Gosh Terry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Are you OK? Maybe you should take the advice you gave to SoCal and grow a pair??

You want to be treated with respect? Then show some humility. Your knowledge of this team is minimal compared to the vast majority of us that follow this team with a passion. Its OK for you to have opinions. But don't state them as fact (which you do) and if proven wrong (which has happened on numerous occasions) admit you didn't know the whole story and you were wrong. You show us some respect and you would be surprised how it might return to you.

My bet is this isn't the only board you have had this issue with.

Actually, this is the only board I've had this issue with. I don't show you respect because you haven't shown me any. Simple as that. I state my opinions, I provide facts to back up why I think the way I do (except for my o-line comments). If you don't like what I'm saying, ignore me or engage in a civil discussion as to why you disagree. It's really not that hard to do. You can't prove an opinion wrong, you can just provide facts or statistics as to why you think I'm wrong. But there's no reason why things need to escalate to the levels most of y'all take it to.

So you weren't happy one bit during the season when you won the title?

Of course I was happy when it initially happened. Even then though I had concerns that Griffin was 1) a fuckin hardhead 2) no really, a real fuckin hardhead and injury prone. The bottom line is this. He refused to protect himself when he first entered the NFL. Even after he got his ass unnecessarily knocked the fuck out on a legal hit by Sean Weatherspoon against Atl. That happened cause he didn't understand situational football, but I wasn't sure about that till the following week. At the Falcons 3 yd ln and out of the pocket Griffin should've thrown the ball away or ran out of bounds. Instead he lolly-gagged by the sidelines before trying to cut back inside, lost his footing and was clocked by Weathespoon.

The very next week Griffins goes 76 yards down the left sidelines for the game clinching TD against Minny. At the -game press conference the first words out his mouth were a snarky "Maybe I should've ran out of bounds instead." That's when I became worried. As he showed not only was he a hard-head, he was also ignorant of situational football. In the Minny he dropped back to pass and made up his mind to run. So he broke to his left and the only defender out there was a Vikes CB and Griffin had about 25 yards of sideline to work with.

Needless to say it was little tells like that the rest of the season. And after the playoffs he was far too concerned with proppin Gatorade and trying to be RG3. Before the next season started I was not only off the band wagon. I became a very vocal critic of Griffin. As it was clear he did nothing in the half-season from any aspect. Mentally, film work, none of that shit. He just came in and told Shanny he wanted to be a QB like P Manning as if just saying would make it true.

Heh. Well you did say Sty was the smartest dude here and then said. And its not because his opinion matches mine to a tee. That made me laugh. but lemme ask you homey. If wasn't having a similar opinion as Sty. Than why exactly did you say he was the smartest dude here? If the rest of us dummies can learn something the board will be all the better for it. Word. Word.

I said he's the smartest guy here because he doesn't engage in these little childish insult filled responses all the time. He posted a legit question that only 2 people answered in a legit way. He tries to engage in actual conversation, not "wow, you don't know anything" or "we are all laughing at you" or name calling or anything. Seems like a legit dude who engages in legit conversation.

This was Sty's question:

Waiting for an answer to the more important question....Facilitator or Playmaker?

No it was a much longer post than that. Went into full detail and hit on some great points that Redskins' fans need to ask themselves.

Well, that came directly from Sty's post, so it was HIS question.

The thing about @Stymietee is he is a master baiter when it comes to asking questions he wants answered a certain way. He asks those questions that will fit his narrative. And much like you Terry, while he isnt going to openly admit it, his opinion of Kirk was initially formed based on the situation more so than the player. He was never really a fan of Cousins becoming the starter, and he seemed to expect Cousins to fail.

My opinion of Kirk Cousins was formed on two things. One, how the hell is he worth $27-30M a year? Two, he's got the stats of a great QB who's got a direct path to the HoF, but he doesn't have the success of the team on his back to go along with it. I'll never get why fans back QBs that put up great stats but don't lead the team to success. The Skins are back where they were in 2012 just with consistency on their side now. And that consistency is being 1 game over .500 and always being on the edge of the playoffs. I don't know how y'all can settle for that. But, with that said, Cousins isn't the main problem. He needs a supporting cast of competent FO people, running game, o-line protection and better defensive pieces. Maybe if he feels the team is building around him, he'll play better and lead the team better. Just a thought.
