Pretty happy with the Texas class, first class for CS, and after a 6-7 season.

LB and DB group that as a whole takes a backseat to no one. A lot of OL (four early enrollees) to give some depth where really needed, and a couple QB prospects to give competition.

Number 7 in espins rankings, and in the top ten on three other rankings, 11-12 on rivals. Not bad at all.

Now, if we can just pick up one of the graduate transfer QBs, would be ecstatic.

Ya really surprised you guys didn't lat a quarterback. Baylor, A&M, and Tulsa all got 4* Qb's from Texas. Okla. St. got a 4* Qb from Oklahoma.

Surprised we didn't really target a QB either.

yes, QBs have been a problem since Colt McCoy.

We have Jerrod Heard, who has some ability, winning two Texas championships. In bowl game practice, Wickline complained to Watson about why he wasnt getting reps...Watson and his pro style/west coast BS just isnt going to cut it at Texas.

After the game, CS reamed the offensive staff, putting them on notice. Brought in one of your former guys, who I think is going to have more influence on the offense, along with Wickline. Think Watson is on the hot seat- either get that unit moving and adjust to the type of QBs that the state has at every school or get the hell out of the way.

Got Kai Locksley out of Maryland, who is athletic but raw at QB. Hopefully that will help down the line.

Harbaugh flipped Gentry though he was already on his way out, if I got the story correct.

yes, he was a verbal to Texas for a year or so. Various reasons given by him for his departure to Michigan (though I think the real reason=Harbaugh):

heard Watson was on hotseat, heard Texas was going to get away from the pro-style/West coast offense that Gentry wants and move to a run heavy spread, and Kyler Murray showed up in Austin mid-week for a surprise visit.

Texas was then left with flipping Kai Locksley from FSU. A dual threat QB and son of a coach on Maryland's staff. Plus a kid named Merrick who is going to grey shirt and come in next year.

Texas would have kept him. They were after 2 other QBs. Texas is going spread, so it was probably best for both parties.

Yeah he was, and Texas really didn't try to keep him.

Texas got 2 QBs in this class, despite what everyone reports. Kai Locksley and Matt Merrick, who's being coached by Kevin Murray, Kyle Murray's father.

Texas will be fine at QB. The real question is how the OL class can help out, that's the biggest problem right now.

Funny, because I was thinking that about OU. Texas got a 4 star DT QB, but OU took 0 QBs. Interesting move

GENTRY was not going to stay once TEXAS announced a change to a spread offense in December.
He would have stuck around if they kept the 2014 offense.

Every darn HS player in Texas runs some sort of HUNH, SPREAD variation.
Nobody runs a west coast offense.

It was silly for Charlie Strong to try and force guys to run a West Coast offense.
It is smarter to simply adopt an offense to fit the players.

The spread is not the perfect offense, but it is a the perfect offense for Texas schools.
It wasn't so much a flip to Michigan as it as Texas suddenly making his skillset a bad fit.

ASU grabbing the #20 recruiting class. Nice

Pac is getting stronger Oregon is not going to "dominate" like they have, especially with USC back.

After the dust has settled I think UCLA had the biggest day I'm not sure I've ever seen a team close that strong. Not sure if they were sandbagging or what but that jump was impressive.

Cale Gundy made an interesting point that after next year's seniors get a look at Riley's new offense, the fact that they didn't sign a QB this year may look awful appealing.

That's a very smart point for the long-run.
