Pop Warner enrollment is down 20% over the last few years. As more and more info gets out on concussions and other debilitating injuries, the NFL is afraid that it might be possible that parents will stop letting little Billy and others play the mean game of football.

The NFL we all grew up with is over. In 30- 40 years, maybe less it might be possible that tackle football with all the hitting will be a thing of the past. Get ready for NFL touch or flag football leagues. Pretty soon it will be against the rules to hit a QB period if it already has. After the 49ers game today what is legal anymore? Defensive players will stop wanting to play defense and want to switch to offense not wanting to get fined for simply playing the game it was meant to be played. Defensive talent will drop like a rock as will the league. The NFL is slowly killing the product that made it so popular. Referees and their little yellow flags and TV timeouts to check plays have also slowed the flow of the game down to a crawl. Excuse us we have to go to another car commercial.

The injuries, especially head injuries are scaring parents and that is the biggest problem for the NFL in my opinion.

Sorry for the buzzkill but I call it like I see it.

And Brett Favre just came out and said that if he had a son, he would not encourage his son to play football. I do wonder what will happen to football in the future as parents become more apprehensive about their children playing football. I imagine that the game is too big to fail with all the money and demand for the product, but perhaps the talent level will drop a bit or at least will come from different areas of the country or the world.

Fran Tarkenton said on KNBR radio that he would not let his kids play football with all the information out there these days. No one wants to see injuries , especially head injuries but there is risk in a lot of games. People are measuring those risks more and more these days and realizing football is not worth the risk. I have had 4 concussions over the years not from football but I worry what it might of done to my dome.

Football is but a small part of life but you're dome you carry with you for a lifetime.

Speed Kills. The game has got way fast.

Football doesn't have to die. Its been around for 130 years and it will evolve to last another 100.

You are being bombarded with fear. Little jonnies all across America are suffering concussions. Yeah, :bullshit:

The numbers are very small an only being brought to your attention by leftist groups with agenda to push for the pussification of America.

The most severe chances of serious injury increase to the college and pro years, which a very small percentage make it that far.

If your head can't handle it don't do it. I have literally had double digit severe concussions and probably at least in the hundreds of minor ones, and I have had no long term effects (I have been to a concussion specialist to verify this, had my IQ tested at ~150 and a wide range or other psychological tests at either normal or 90+ percentile depending on the type of test since the most recent one a few years back). Some people can handle the trauma and some can't. I am all for monitoring and pulling the plug when there is evidence of an impact, but some people legitimately can handle the repeated trauma without serious repurcussions, and it's not fair to punish them for the weaknesses of others.

I would like a link to that if you could provide please.

If Brett did say that I will say its because he would know that his son's potential would be great thus putting him at greater risk of injury.

This is the article I read earlier. Reading it again, I now realize that the title was misleading. Favre didn't actually say that he wouldn't let his hypothetical son play, but he did say that he would be real leery about it because of the expectations of being Brett Favre's son and the physical toll. He did say that the physical toll was the more important consideration of the two.

I'll agree but not fully. As if right now I stills think regardless football will be huge. But as a fan it's getting hard to watch when you invest in your team and just get shell shocked by a Pussy call that has been plaguing the nfl for a while now.

Recent info states that damage to some brains are only discovered after death. One last thing man, concussion problems by people other than yourself are not a weakness if they have problems. That is a cold statement ,man. I hope you rethink you're position on concussion problems.

It is a weakness, just as much as having a poor arm is.

If you aren't cut out for the sport, choose a different one. How is that cold?

They had a weakness. There isn't a person in the world without weaknesses.

They didn't know better. Now we do and can get the people who can't handle the impact out before they do too much permanent damage.

How are you going to do that? Wow. Like I said some damage is not detectable while alive.

:wtf2:

Later dude.

The vast majority of the damage is detectable. The vast majority of people not showing long term damage are because they do not have long term damage.

No approach is perfect, but the best is to test heavily and leave everyone who tests as healthy alone.

Thanks for the link and yeah wow huge misleading title.

I'm glade I called it though. Being Brett Favre son would put you under immense pressure to succeed thus making his chances of injury greater.

Good call Brett. My favorite QB! I <3 Brett!

I didn't read it quite that way. I didn't see where he made a connection between being Brett Favre's son and a greater chance of injury.

I didn't read it quite that way. I didn't see where he made a connection between being Brett Favre's son and a greater chance of injury.

Brett Favre said:
“In some respects, I'm almost glad I don't have a son because of the pressures he would face. Also the physical toll that it could possibly take on him, not to mention if he never made it, he's gonna be a failure in everyone's eyes. But more the physical toll that it could take

Come on, if your dad was Brett Favre I'm sure you'd have some football talent in you and not to mention the best coach you could possibly want.

So he admits, humbly, that his son would be awesome thus making it to college and perhaps pro increasing his chance of injury.
