I dun need no fancy book jest to tell me that BAMA is better than dem Gaturs!
Most Games in a season scoring a touchdown - 14 games Lee Suggs, 2002
Most Consecutive Games scoring a touchdown - 27 Games Lee Suggs (had 57 TDs in 27 consecutive games!)
1997—ESPN replaced CNN in the USA Today coaches’ poll that named Nebraska as its champion. Michigan finished No. 1 in the AP poll. The Wolverines and Nebraska were both unbeaten heading into the bowls, and the Cornhuskers finished 13-0 with a 41-21 win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Meanwhile, Michigan (12-0) beat Washington, 21-16, in the
Rose Bowl. Even though both teams won in the bowls, 21 coaches changed their votes in the USA Today/ESPN poll on the strength of Nebraska’s margin of victory and handed Tom Osborne the third poll championship for Nebraska in four years. Lloyd Carr got his first AP title in only his third year as head coach of the Wolverines. Michigan DB Charles Woodson was the first defensive player ever selected as the Heisman Trophy winner.
Some Badger gems:
- We are apparently the only team to ever have two games with a 200 hundred yard rusher and 200 yard receiver in the same year (2003)
- By reaching 1,000 career yards in his seventh game as a Freshman, PJ Hill tied Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, and Adrian Peterson for fastest to accomplish that feat.
- The failure of the NCAA to acknowledge bowl games in stats still hurts Ron Dayne in a lot of cases. It has him in a tie for career 200 yard games (missing three bowl games) and costs his career rushing record about 700 yards.
- Brian Calhoun is one of only two players to have 1,500 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season. I am shocked the total is that low.
- I forgot that Drew Brees threw the ball 83 times in a game against us. Holy shit....
- Fewest turnovers per game in NCAA History belongs to the 2010 Badgers, with 9 in 13 games. God bless Scott Tolzien.
- The last tie game in NCAA History was Wisconsin-Illinois in November 1995.
- Jim Sorgi to Lee Evens was one of only 17 99 yard passes in FBS History.
- 2006 Wisconsin had the top ranked passing defense of the last nine years.
- 1998 Wisconsin led the nation in fewest PPGA and turnover margin. People remember that team for Dayne, but the reality is the offense was the weak point. I still wonder what would have happened if they could have won @ Michigan, the only loss of their season.
- Wisconsin has the third biggest margin of victory over #1 in history, beating Northwestern by 29 in 1962.
- Wisconsin was a perpetual top fifteen team between 1951 and 1962. I knew we had some good teams, but I never had any idea how consistent we were. After 1962, we didn't make the end of year top 25 until 1993.
Northwestern was once number 1!!!!!. I've got a pretty good memory but I sure don't remember that.

It seems like a complete fluke until you realize that Ara Parseghian was their coach.
That was also the year that we got closest to winning the title. We lost 42-37 to USC (they were #1; we were #2) in a Rose Bowl that is considered among the best games in NCAA History.
