Knecht doesn't make much. Keep him on his rookie deal and package Reaves with either Vandy or Vincent and get a legit C and a few guys for the bench

There is no way I'm keeping Knecht over Vando based on the current big 3. Lakers need all the defensive pieces they can get.

It's not a matter of salary, it's a matter of perceived upside. Knecht could hold 1st round pick value in a trade.

I don't follow the Lakers but I do follow Tennessee sports and was wondering how Knecht is working out. I thought he would do OK, he was able to score off the dribble in college and had really good court awareness but I was suspect of his defense. What's he been like other than your description? Thanks.

He's been a volatile 3 pt shooter and a pretty decent rebounder, but he gets lost defensively too much to earn a bigger role thus far (especially now with Luka/AR/Lebron as the big 3 (at best questionable defenders at this stage - Lebron a step up over the guards when locked in). He can be a big weapon when he has that 3 going, but so far has a tendency to give it back on the other end.

DJ, Your minority owner, Tom Brady has contacted Stafford's agent Jimmy Sexton and is begging Jimmy to convince Stafford to sign with the Raidas. Also, rumors abound that Kupp will come with Stafford if Stafford can be talked into leaving the Rams.

They're not free agents. He needs to be begging the Rams GM. That rumor is likely nothing more than just that.

Vandy injury prone (you have even mentioned that) and not getting a lot of mpg after adding DFS. His salary helps for matching purposes. For Knecht and Vandy they could land a C and a bench player, maybe 2.

PS: I am not a fan of trading Vandy, just throwing out a possible scenario. They could also trade Vincent instead of Vandy since they have Milton under contract. Although Vincent has been playing well offensively as of late plus his tenacious defense.

We shall see what they do to address C in the offseason.

I don't see Milton sticking around next season. He's non guaranteed, probably cut outright after the season, if not included in a trade as an easy post-trade cut.

Vanderbilt is a difficult piece to move, since he has 3 more years left on his contract (including a PO) and as you mentioned, is injury prone. If he stays healthy and plays well enough to interest other teams, the Lakers won't want to move him. If he gets hurt again, nobody will trade for those 3 years.

How much do you think the Lakers are going to spend for a C that they need all these contracts? They already have Kleber's expiring 11M, Gabe's expiring 11.5M, and Rui's expiring $18.2M. Dalton's $4M gives them flexibility to match salaries, for example trying to match Claxton's $25M salary.

Who knows, maybe they just pursue Capela if they can get him for the MLE. S&T would cap them at the 1st apron, which would be problematic.

They will likely need to re-sign both Lebron and DFS when they decline their player options. On top of all that, there's the task of managing upcoming extensions for Luka and AR. Very full offseason coming up.

Well.. AD didn't play so its kind of pointless to gauge either team at this point until the playoffs
