Just brainstorming here.

I wonder.....if Luka might take advantage of his friendship with Joker and try and lure him to the Lakers? If Bron retires after next season.

Joker is 29 now but in a few years he will be 31 and his game translates to aging well....rebounder, shooter and passer.....not like he is a super athletic freak.

Without a C I truly think getting to and losing in the 2nd round (WC semis) is their ceiling. We got the face of the franchise after Bron but we still have a pretty incomplete roster right now.

Joker has a player option for '27-28, he could turn that down. It's almost 63 mill.

But, he'll have earned a shit ton of money by then and the Lakers could give him a pretty good deal.

What is it with Lakers superstars that are universally known by one name?

Magic. Shaq. Kobe, Bron and now Luka.....LOL.

Of course the First was George, right after the franchsie moved from Minneapolis to Los angeles. That belonged to the beloved first Big Man for the Lakers, George Mikan who I got to see in one game before he retired, way back when.

Well, DJ, Outside of Nick Richards, who Pelinka and the Lakers are kicking themselves over letting Phoenix get him before they did, the real Center the Lakers want is Kessler. Kessler is the quinntessential Prototypical Lakers Center that would be the guy THEY have wanted for some time. But Ainge being the ass-hat Celtics douchebag that he is is going to fight the Lakers for as long as he can just so they can't get the player they really want.

To rush out and lose more resources they really should keep just to assuage the public sentiment that the Lakers should make a trade for a Center is really defeating and counter-productive to the long-term goal. The Lakers and Doncic just may have to go forward without that Center until the summer and then make the appropriate move then.

Welcome to LA Mark Williams. 23 year old athletic 7' rim runner and shot blocker that hits his FTs. Averaged 19/12 in January, including 31 (vs Kessler) and 38 (vs JJJ) pt games. He's missed time with injuries in each of his first 3 seasons, but nothing that has required surgery.

Will miss Knecht, but he would've been tough to play consistently with Luka/AR/Lebron defensively moving forward.

It will be a tough sell for some that want a more recognizable, bigger name. Knecht was already becoming a fan favorite.
I love Knecht but that's a small price to pay man. They have Luka, they don't need Knecht. They needed Williams. Perfect addition

I'm just happy they didn't trade Reaves. Although trading four rotation guards in six weeks is tough on the depth.

That said, looking at the likely minutes, Knecht wasn't going to play much, and was going to shoot even less. Three of James, Reaves, Doncic, and Hachimura are going to be on the court most of the time, so what is Knecht going to do, defend and rebound?

Minutes will probably resemble:

Reaves 35
Doncic 35
James 35
Milton 10
Finney-Smith25
Hachimura 32
Vanderbilt 20
Williams 30
Hayes 18

That's about what they are all playing now. I'd like to see them keep James around 30, but he's at 35 now, and will probably stay there.

We got Mark Williams from Charlotte....who is having a good season, for Westside Knecht, Reddich, '2030 pick swap, and '31 1st rounder.

Good deal. He is just 23 and can score and rebound....not a great defender but he and Hayes give us a solid 1-2 punch at C.

I am so jacked after this trade deadline!!!!

This is what great franchises do!!!!
I'm just prepaing myself for Jerry trying to make the same splash as Nico. He might call the Chiefs and say, "Umm, now Mr Brett, I really miss having a great TE around here, I just have to have that Kelce boy. How bout I send you this Micah Parsons kid we have. I'm a deamaker, so if you'll kick me back a 5th round pick, well then, I guess I can send you this CeeDee Lamb character as well. We will pay half their salaries to make it work. What do you say boy?" Then Mr. Veach says, "HaHa, Jerry, you know Kelce may retire. Good One". Jerry says "Umm, I see you're playing hardball. OK, I'll kick in three 1st round picks but that's my final offer Boy!" to which Brett says "Jerry, you can't be serio....I mean, Deal!"

I was starting to wish Davis would sell the entire franchise and then he brought in TB and he hired Carroll....I am cautiously optimistic about next season.

We have FA and the draft to fix the team.

Going to miss Knecht’s outside shooting off the bench.

Bench got a lot weaker after these 2 trades with Christie and Knecht gone.

Don’t know Williams’ game that much, but trading for another injury prone guy is risky.
