Me and the guys
And yes, Love's injury problems are concerning for me...
Didn't mean to imply tanking (though I said it), meant more not trying to get the best option... Rondo certainly has a bad ft% and jumper... But prior to him leaving Boston his stats were...
8.3ppg/7.5rpg/10.8apg/1.7spg/3.4tpg
His stats from 08-10 are 2pts more 2rebs more 1stl more... And like Trojan was saying, when a guy is in a better place he responds... Look at Josh Smith... You look at giving Rondo a 3/4 year deal at a reasonable price 10/12 mil or less, you have 2 things... 1) you might get the player we need... 2) no matter what after 2 years we'll know if Clarkson is really who we hope him to be and Rondo takes a back seat I'm his final year, or if it's 4 we can try to move his expiring... I don't see a downside with this move... I will acknowledge it could not work, but what PG out there has the balls to save Kobe from himself... Rondo will keep the offense moving yet will know when it's Kobe time... Just my opinion...
Glad to see you around here giving your opinion
Thanks... I've been coming through and reading a lot, but I didn't really want to say much because it was already said by you me and everybody else... Just watched my league pass and called myself a dumbass for paying all that money for Dleague games... But there's always next year... I know what you're suggesting is more practical and would be a better long term fix... But all my scenarios and beliefs come from the understanding that we have Kobe until Kobe wants out... And as long as we have him we can not rebuild effectively because when he's gone the whole dynamic of the team will change... So if he's going to stay (and he's earned at least the rest of his contract and a pay cut 2 year deal after that), we have to try and get players that are ready to make a championship run right now even if it doesn't happen...
There's no Magic Johnson out there that can come in as a rookie and lead a team to a ring... However, you get Rondo and say Butler and Kobe's healthy and we have Hill, and Randle can hold his own, and (you add Gasol I wish) resign Boozer to back up Randle and if need be play some big playoff minutes, and you have Ed Davis and Young gets put back in check when Kobe is back... You give yourself a crazy punchers chance to give Kobe a ring and we still have these young guys learning and developing and experiencing what championship teams expect and are expected to do...
The agree in with Hammer is, if you're dying of Aids maybe the cancer cells would attack the aids virus and somehow MAGICally you end up cured... See what I did there...
I hear you wlk. There's nothing that makes me happier in professional sports than Lakers championships. I just really don't think Rondo has it anymore and wouldn't risk any commitment to him. No doubt that this is a very important offseason for the Lakers.
btw, it happened, fellas. my next grandson is now officially newly arrived on Earth. the planet may never be the same again...
Congrats. Grandkids are awesome. You can spoil the crap out of them, fill them up with sugar and then send them home.
hehe, EXACTLY...
I like to get them noisy toys too that can only be played with at their house too.
And your kids are looking at you like, "WTF?"
We should be focusing on guys like Aldridge, Monroe, and Deandre Jordon more than Rondo. We have not had a true big man presence in the paint since Shaq and it is one of the reasons our D remains porous and we lose many games. It's sort of like the old Don Coryell/Sid Gillman approach to football: You can win by outscoring the opponent. If one of the reasons B. Scott was hired was to improve Defense, we don't have the present personnel to implement that to any measurable degree. Thus the focus should be to remedy that problem.
