Umm your thread title maybe? lol

We don't ignore them, but we don't pretend that 4000 yards is some fabulous accomplishment, In 1967 it was, but after 2012.. not so much.

Ah, was obviously talking about......

So what do we look for when judging QB's?

Personally I like passer rating, though passing yards per game should be measured against it, as the more one passes the more difficult it is to maintain a high passer rating.

But comparing Wilson's (or any current QB's) stats with those of QBs from other eras is a fool's errand for what should be obvious reasons. The average NFL passer rating last year was 14 points higher than it was a mere 15 years ago for example.

Wrong again, sheesh!!!!

Manster, slow down and actually read what is being said ok?

Go to post #215 and you will read me saying,,,,,

Peyton had 7, can;t think of anyone having more than 7, not saying it hasn't happened. With Wilson it's the combination of all of it, nobody matchs his overall game.

See......not saying it hasn't happened?

Now that apology.
I got your apology hanging.

You keep beating the numbers game, but those numbers have to fit into a specific window for you.

Here's a specific window for you. On September 27, 2018 Jared Goff was the greatest QB in the league

You do know only Aaron Rodgers has a higher passer rating than Wilson, if talking QB's with at least nine seasons of NFL play.

You do know that with Wilson's career we're dealing with a very specific window in time when average passer rating has risen dramatically due to the rule changes, right?

Here's more small window stats for you.

Lamar Jackson has 2 perfect games since September 7, 2019. From that point Russel Wilson has NO perfect games.

Doesn't matter, everyone faces the same situation, yes in pro football history rrgardless of this or that only Rodgers has a better passer rating than Wilson (nine seasons or more)

This is why nobody takes you seriously. When someone points out a perceived flaw in your evaluation you simply ignore it and repeat yourself.

The 4000 yard thing is a perfect example. The 30 TDs thing is another though not as bad. Pro Bowls are also less selective than they used to be. When a guy is hurt or bails out on playing they just pick the next guy in line. It did not used to be like that in the old days.

4000 yards has not been a particularly special accomplishment since Wilson joined the league. Since 2012 an average of 10 guys have thrown for > 4000 yards every single year while Wilson has done it fewer than half of the seasons he's played. So maybe passing yards isn't the best barometer to use when promoting his greatness. I do think he's an excellent QB fwiw.

Nobody cares about a couple games guy.

Hopefully you aren't trying to compare Jackson to Wilson.

Of course it matters.

A passer rating of 100 in 2020=86 in 2006, =82 in 1990, =76 in 1979, =71 in 1971, and so on.

You cannot compare this stat with anyone's aside from those whose careers mirrored Wilson's timeframe.

Absolutely any QB who has started from 06 and on has an advantage in passer ratings ,td/int ratio and yards

So if just talking Passer Rating, only Rodgers compares to Wilson when talking nine seasons.

I haven;t done the homeork yet but am guessing Wilsons TD/INT ratio is about as good as we have seen in those first nine seasons.

And, would guess his rushing yards are among the best ever.

How could anyone try to battle this isn't a very special QB?

Of course it matters.

A passer rating of 100 in 2020=86 in 2006, =75 in 1990, =70 in 1979, =62 in 1971, and so on.

Otto Graham was putting up 100 passer ratings in the 40's.

I don't care about all that, bottom line.......only Rodgers had a better passer rating than Wilson.

Montana had a 112 passer rating in 1989.

I didn't realize how much the average passer rating had risen the past 15 years until I looked it up today. It's really spiked after the recent rounds of rule changes. It never cracked 80 until 2002 and was right around 80 in 2005 & 2006. It was 93.6 last season.

When we see any all time lists can we really....

Well ya see Jim Brown faced smaller, slower, weaker, athletes on the defense and.....

Do we want to play all that or just go with how things actually are with all of us getting how the past worked.
