I'm not advocating Walt Perrin for GM of this or any team, but reading his interviews, he seems to know his stuff - from basketball to media. He has a sense of control about him - like he knows why the reporter is asking the question but won't fall into a trap or say something he doesn't want to say, be out there.
Example: I think the way he has handled Marxus Smart saying we weren't interested. He kind if had a big of a swagger about his answers, like it was a message to Smart, his agent, and a bit of a smokescreen but maybe not to other teams.
Example: His response to concerns over Embiid's injury. He answered it like a pro, in my opinion. Big maybe I am just used to Randy Rigby answers (shutter).
I don't know his abilities to guide players like a GM, scouting seems to be his thing - but scouting is one major aspect of being a GM. I wonder if he has any aspirations of being a GM or assistant to the GM beyond not turning it down if offered.
