It's not about being a pussy or not being a pussy. If you want to have a forum where discussion can flourish and be encouraged, you need to have normative behaviors that you can expect from people in order to make that possible. The Swamp fails because it lacks any semblance of normative behavior. The opposite has been true here. People cuss, and bitch, and moan at times, but generally, there is a lot of mutual respect, a lack of antagonism, and the focus is on (1) having fun and/or (2) talking about hockey. The latter breaks down and people are driven away when they don't feel they can express themselves without having respect and decency reciprocated. That's not being a pussy - that's a very basic concept of social interaction.
And if a few dick and fart jokes get thrown in to keep some levity and cure the boredom when there isn't much going on, all the better. It doesn't do anything to degrade or harm the structure I mentioned above.
I thought someone could put together all of this without me needing to spell it out. Nobody is suggesting you can't be strong, verbose, etc. Hell, Boss calls people a "pussy" all the time and he is beloved and just won Best Moderator. But he does it with some whimsicality to it and doesn't make situations combative when they don't need to be. We've moved on past all that by actually moving here.
