Yeah, I think your analogy is good with the Laker/Celtics. I'll also add in the Knickerbockers and 76ers.

Warriors too.

The Bulls are not Cowboys level bad yet.

The suggestion by that radio host was that when Giants vs. Cowboys is on, put on Moana instead.

The Bears were down by three points and had the ball at the 20, first down. Easy field goal range. After an incompletion, penalty, and sack, they were on the 36 yard line or so. They had one timeout but ran out of time without calling the timeout or kicking the field goal and the last pass (incomplete) didn’t even go into the endzone… and of course, the coach has to say they handled it the right way.

I heard all of that on the radio as it was happening. The announcers were stunned.

One hundred million points for anyone who can tell me correctly what I find interesting in this game summary:

And yes, I should charge my phone. But that’s not the answer.

Back to back missed PATs.

No, you don't need to charge your phone if it's yellow. Only if the battery life is red.

Same thing with cars and gas or battery. Only refill when the car is shaking and sputtering and going forward in spurts of inches, because of a lack of fuel / battery.

Nope, it’s not something you would guess by looking at it. I can tell you the answer, there’s no shame in not knowing.

The second touchdown was on a “hook and ladder” play where the quarterback throws it to one player and that player throws it backwards to another player to score. The play-by-play records that touchdown as if it were a pass to the second guy.

I want to guess a little more. Does it have something to do with 3 total missed PATs?

If not, can you give me a clue?

Sorry, the only clue I can get without giving it away is that something is wrong with the players. And you probably have to see the play or at least know the play exists as a play.

Can you tell me which play? I'll look it up.

Let's see if I can figure out what's wrong with the play, from watching the clip.

The link to the play was in the spoiler that you can’t see without opening or quoting my message. Here it is, have audio on: Lions with the Hook and lateral for a 41 yard TOUCHDOWN trick play Lions vs 49rs #nfl #shorts #lions
I tried watching, but I couldn't figure it out.

I've always wondered what a hook and ladder was. Thanks.

Why don't teams try this more often?

It's the first time since 2012 that there are multiple rookie QB starters in the playoffs.

Why do they call it a hook and ladder? What part is the "hook" and what part is the "ladder"?

Is there an analogy to a real world application for a hook and ladder? I can't think of anything where a hook is next to a ladder, but maybe there's an application that I don't know about, because I don't know all of the applications of hooks and ladders in the real world.

What is a spy?

I‘d tell you, but I’d have to kill you. ;)

A spy is like a shortstop, in that he’s kind of in the middle of a few positions - designed to make sure the QB doesn’t run. The QB in a pass read option or keeper can run when the defense thinks the ball was handed off or that the QB will pass. (Just so this is not misinterpreted, he can run whenever he wants to, it’s not a rule, it’s just that there’s a player who is designed to be just beyond where the play started to limit that ability.)

He’ll also be there to defend short to intermediate defensive passes or obviously in pursuit of the running back if it is handed off. He’s not just watching, but he’s a defender who may look like he is going to back off to defend or go man on man or something else, but really is keeping an eye on the quarterback.

Is that the official name of the position? Or just his role?

Is there a spy on every single down?
