Even if the Sabres win all their remaining games (19), they still only have an 80% chance to make the PO's.

In their eight losses and two ties since Feb.1, the Blues have been outscored 17-0 after the second period.

Wowza.

Montreal has almost given up more goals in the 2nd than the 1st and 3rd combined. Though they do have 32 goals scored in the 2nd also...

Goals Against by period
1st = 12
2nd = 32
3rd = 23

The Penguins extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory at Toronto, after trailing 1-0 entering the third period. That was a virtual reprise of the script for the Penguins' home-ice win against the Bruins on Tuesday. Pittsburgh outscored Boston 3-0 in the third period of that game, having trailed 2-0 at the end of the second period.

The Penguins are the first team in NHL history to win consecutive regular-season games in regulation time after trailing while being shut out entering the third period in each game.

That surprises me, In all of the years the NHL has been around I would have bet it had happened a few times. Very interesting.

Not really fancy but Lundqvist leads the NHL with 44 shootout wins since they've started shootouts.

In 14 GP with Karlsson, the Sens defensemen produced 27 points.
In the last 14 GP without him, they've produced 31.

Everything Gonchar touches right now ends up the other team's net. This is opposed the rest of his time with the Sens when everything went in his own net. :gaah:

Seriously though Gonch has stepped up and rookie Patrick Wiercioch is getting better and better. He might start getting some peripheral mention in the Calder race.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

he's been one of my favourite players his entire career.
not in small part because of how he has pissed off Leaf fans over the years.

LOL. The funny thing is that many of those that boo him at ACC now have no idea why they're booing.

Penguins are the first team in NHL history to have a 10+ game winning streak in 3 consecutive seasons.

I'd rather have 3 consecutive Stanley Cups. Came close (and should have) in 1993.

Fucking Volek.

6 months prior to the isles series when the bucs lost to the braves (fucking bream) my first words were "the pens will win a 3rd cup this season. " I was trying to ease the sting of 3 straight NL playoff disappointments.

Impressive, but also a product of the shootout and a guaranteed winner every game.

I also agree with the Volek sentiment and still cringe not from his ot winner, but thinking about Kevin Steven's face imploding earlier in the game.

True dat. That's what makes the stat so "fancy". :)

Here's another: The last 6 games of the streak, the Pens have allowed a total of 6 goals.
