I'm not sure having a historically great pass defense is really a blueprint that a bunch of teams can follow.

Maybe we should wait for the post-game inebriation to wear off prior to making absolute declarations about "eras" or even trends.

:bullshit:

SEA has the perfect storm of CAP $ distribution right now because RW's rookie contract is such a small cap hit... Yet, they're getting solid mostly mistake free production from the position. Once his contract comes for renewal...they will have to shed some expensive or soon to be expensive DEF players.

SEA definitely has the blue print to the Super Bowl, and I do think teams will take more chances on DEF players.

Textbook slippery-slope logical fallacy.

One game in which a great quarterback played like shit and a good defense played perfectly DOES NOT === the end of the NFL being a passing league. Over the past 10 years, more and more rules have been passed that make the QB and WR's all but untouchable. Manning had a difficult time tonight because Seattle was 2 steps ahead of every read he was making, and when he did, they flew to the ball and minimized the YAC. Likewise, DEN's D has been suspect all year against the run IMO. They didn't revolutionize anything. They just had a great power back and good blocking up front. To take that and say "the era of passing offense is over" is mentally fucking retarded.

Whatever...
We didn't play perfect D, but we played Seahawk D to a T.

Although I sincerely hope that you are right Mr. OP, there is another possibility that worries me. PI rule changes will be considered by the competition committee and at some point be modeled after the halo rule in college ball. Then when the dubious records set in todays version of the game fall, the talk will center around the next GOAT without consideration to those who played the game when every yard was actually earned.

Don't agree with this at all. While I feel the run game has become more important not sure we can just dismiss the importance of passing
