That was a stupid firing "mutual decision". I don't think the Cubs are fucked by any means, but they're not getting a better manager. I don't think Maddon had anything to do with the Cubs falling apart the last two seasons.
That 2016 Chicago Cub pitching was on a totally different level than the 2017-2019 teams. No manager was going to duplicate those results imo.
I don't know about all that but Hendricks had a nutty year and Lester was on top of his game. It basically gave them 3 acesyeah, that pitching staff overachieved big time. that was just an amazing defensive team.

They should hire Legendary Lloyd again. They tried that before with McClendon and truthfully that might their only option.
I liked Hurdle but he had go. Going from 2.5 out to a mega collapse that saw players fighting in the dugout and not knowing how to manage a lineup/bullpen did him in. Doesn't help that him and his staff were the ones who couldn't develop guys like Cole and Glasnow. It was just time for both sides to have a change of scenery. But firing Clint Hurdle was stupid too. What exactly was he supposed to do with that roster, and injuries?
He might have had a better shot if the team still had Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow, and no Chris Archer.
