At this point, I have zero intention of seeing this movie. DC has shit the bed too many times. They have no idea how to make a movie anymore.

Joker was good, but VERY over-rated.

Agreed. I'm not sure why everyone found that film SO AMAZING!

Like... alright? It gave a bit more backstory and a different twist on how Joker went psycho with a little more realistic approach.... Phoenix acted great I'll give him that... but I was struggling to stay awake (and I love character studies/dramas).

Good movie. Would I watch it a 2nd time? Nope. Was it AMAZING OMFG? No. It was a... solid above average film. IMDB 7 at best IMO.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous reasons for a critic to declare a Batman movie rotten: :L

Performances were emotional and raw in The Batman, but you're gonna get a very broody Batman that never smiles. The Batman is not kid friendly for younger ones.

That is a bad review but I'm actually kinda skeptical about this one. Like walking into a M Night Shyamalon movie. I assume there will be a twist and that kind of ruins the anticipation. I watch pretty much everything Batman, though

seeing that she wrote the review for a website called "Lola Lambchops" with the title "Is 'The Batman' Kid Friendly?" I'd say the review is about right, but should be taken with a grain of salt since she is reviewing it in a bit of a vacuum...

It's encouraging that some of the reviews say the pacing is pretty good. For a 3.5 hour-long movie, pacing or lack thereof could make or break the show.

Fucking great movie. A bit long but doesnt drag too bad. It was a little less than 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Really sets up a great world in this one. Dano as the Riddler is fucking incredible. Really, really good movie. The gritty detective angle worked awesome.

Not as good as Dark Knight but better than the other two Nolan films imo.

Cool. I do like the idea of Dano as Riddler.

If its better than Batman Begins then its a darn good movie.

This movie was incredible, the fact that you can make a valid argument that it’s better than The Dark Knight speaks to how amazing this movie actually is.

I think Pattinson will silence a lot of “the guy from Twilight????” critics with this movie.

I'm looking forward to it and I have thought since the beginning that Pattinson was a good pick for the role

My one friend said she had to go to the bathroom a lot during it

It was hard holding my bladder for 3 hours but I didn't wanna get up and miss anything. It's very dark, probably the closest thing to a psychological thriller you can get while still being a superhero film

Were the casting choices well done? The main one I had a problem with was Zoe Kravitz as everything I’ve seen her in, I didn’t think she did a good job.
I think I am going to agree with @wildturkey in that I’ll probably wait until it hits HBO Max because three hours seems a bit long for me to sit in the theater. I remember doing that for Avengers Endgame and had to go to the bathroom once or twice and also get like it dragged.

Yes.

Kravitz is great as catwoman. Ferrell is quite the treat as early stages penguin, has some of the rare comic relief. Pattinson is a great batman, Ive always been a fan so maybe a bit biased but hes really good and its a completely different bruce/bat than Bale which is nice to differentiate. Wright as Gordon works really well. Tuturro as Falcone was great.

Dano as I said in my first post was the clear stand out though. Hopefully a March release doesnt get forgetten because he should be in the legitamate supporting actor race.

How’s Andy Serkis as Alfred? I feel like he’ll at least be better than Jeremy Irons who it felt like was just there for a paycheck.

Serkis is solid. Alfred honestly isnt in the movie a ton though. Doesnt have as big of a part since so much of this movie is Batman rather than Bruce Wayne.

Its basically a detective movie where him and Gordon are partners and Selina is like a side contractor haha.

Full thoughts;

The Batman is NOT an action movie. Don’t go in thinking it is. It has a lot of great action set pieces, but the action takes a back seat to a constantly unraveling mystery that just keeps you riveted for the entire three hour running time. There are no wasted frames. You can’t go to the bathroom without missing something.

Let’s also make another thing clear, this is NOT a family film. The tension rivals an old noir and the violence rivals a horror movie, with an uncompromising sound design that plays every crack and every crunch loud and clear. I can’t remember there being any score during the fight sequences (at least not the initial two), so the fights sound painful.

This movie is DARK, and I mean TONALLY dark. Darker than any live action Batman film yet. I can see how this portrayal of The Riddler could legitimately frighten smaller children. This isn’t a fun Spider-Man romp, this is dark and gritty, and a Batman film made strictly for adults.
I’ll have to watch it again, and that won’t be an issue for me because I wholeheartedly love this movie. It’s a film that rewards you for paying attention to details.

How did I get this far without mentioning Matt Reeves? I have loved his work since I first saw Let Me In, and this is his most accomplished film yet.

Definitely see it. It’s one of the best Batman movies ever. Is it the best? Time will have to pass, and I’ll have to see how it holds up before I form my opinion, but it’s certainly one of the top two.
