Damn, that's pretty bad when you consider this is the only professional hockey being played in BC at the moment...

Marlies knock off the Heat in overtime tonight.
Only 1,300 fans, sad to see.

Also, autocorrect wants to change Marlies to Maries.

I think they need to re-shuffle the affiliations. If they were the Canucks farm team that would probably be sold out. It's very strange that the Canucks AHL team is Chicago. If Chicago is going to have an AHL team they should only be the Hawks affiliate. Same for any other NHL city with an AHL team.

whats worse is that a few thousand Leaf fans will show up for a Canucks game but they can't go and support their NHL affiliated team only 1 hour away. If it was the Wolves I would go. and I agree with juliansteed as well to a point. sometimes location of the 2 same teams in the same city could hurt the bottom line for either or both teams. there are exceptions i would imagine (I dont know the Marlies home attendance).

Mike Zigomanis scored the OT winner for the Marlies last night - I wonder if he credited Cheetah Power Surge energy drink in the post-game presser.

Ryan Walter says NO panic regarding weak attendance in Abbotsford for playoff games. Says they have 10 year plan and will make it work.

translation: Our affiliation deal with the Calgary Flames expires in 10 years.

Good luck Ryan, but it's never going to work, Canucks fans aren't going to support Flames prospects (and who can blame them).

I believe as part of the agreement to build the arena and bring the team in was that the City of Abbotsford covers a portion of the losses.
Glendale-North, as it were.
