A bettor at Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology on Friday placed a $20,000 money-line parlay on three heavy favorites in the NCAA tournament for a chance to win a net $870.

The bet: North Carolina, Purdue and ... Virginia.

The Tar Heels and Boilermakers delivered. The Cavaliers did not.

I kept watching a game where a coach was completely clueless about how to modify momentum. Whatever it took to get UVa to that level was left on the bus. By the last 8 minutes, Virginia guys were just standing around waiting for the final horn. Loved it.

By no means am I making excuses for Virginia. They got their asses kicked. However, were they not the overall #1 seed? If so, why was a 24-10 16-seed matched with them when there is another 16-seed that has a losing record--Texas Southern (16-19).

Tx Southern played its first 13 games on the road this year and probably was a lot better than its record based on some injuries and suspensions.

0-13 is 0-13, but this is true. I also see they have played the following teams

Gonzaga
Ohio State
Syracuse
Kansas
Clemson
Baylor
TCU

All but Baylor were tournament teams, and quite frankly I thought Baylor was more deserving than OU of a spot. Only came within 10 against Clemson.

The traditionally black colleges have zero chance to make any money if they aren't dedicated road kill for the first half of the season. They are likely to play anybody so long as they get a paycheck. Sad that the game has become this.
