So you wanted that full "university experience" by moving away from home for college, huh?
If you attend Texas Tech on a football scholarship, it turns out you're living with someone even more curious than mom and dad - head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who's been monitoring his players' social media activity by creating fake accounts.
"We have fake accounts with cute girls that they add right now, so we can see what's going on and who's tweeting what," Kingsbury told free-agent linebacker A.J. Hawk on his podcast, "The Hawkcast," earlier this month. "Those are heavily monitored, for sure."
Whether or not the espionage-like strategy actually influences players' social media habits is hard to tell. Kingsbury acknowledged that most are probably aware they're being watched, but don't really care.
"I think they do (know), but they can't resist that," Kingsbury cracked. "A friend request from a cute girl is an automatic follow."
With that in mind, the Red Raiders will meet Stephen F. Austin in their season opener Sept. 3, and maybe @cutegirl7272 after the game if all goes well.
