I’m thinking Monty in game 1 and Eovaldi in game 3. Then Eovaldi if necessary in game 7 on 4 days rest if needed. He’s the best choice for game 7 and want to see him pitch at home at least one game.

game 2 is on the 16th in Houston, game 7 is on the 23rd in Houston

The title in the link is misleading. Not probable and highly unlikely but he could replace an injured position player only after the ALCS roster has been submitted and then have to get approval from the commissioner’s office.

The rules for replacement players for injured players during the post season include a provision they can be on an active minor league roster.

That would be fun!

While the Rangers were working out Thursday at Globe Life Field, with the pitchers doing their throwing in right field, a group of minor-leaguers who are staying active in case of an injury were working out in left field.

Among the players there were right-handers Jack Leiter and Yerry Rodriguez, left-handers Antoine Kelly and Danny Duffy, catcher Sam Huff and outfielder Dustin Harris.

The minor-leaguers, most of them on the 40-man roster, have been working out since the Triple A season ended in late September. They started working out at Double A Frisco, then came to Globe Life Field when the Rangers were on the road in the wild-card round, had another day in Frisco and returned to Arlington.

The likelihood that anyone from the group, which also includes first-round pick Wyatt Langford, is needed is remote.

Yup that’s what I thought. Also I posted this on September 13th.

“It depends how bad the strain is. Verlander had the same injury this Spring and missed about 35 days.
If it were the same severity that would put Scherzer at around an October 17th return in time for game 2 of the league championship series.”

Same here but have contingency plans if not. Bid concern to me is hoping the offense doesn’t shut down
