So far, I like the moves the team has made. I was ok with letting Eovaldi from a pure financial standpoint, but there's a part of me that is happy our WS ace is coming back. Plus, the trade for a power bat was so needed, and for what they gave up to get Burger, talk about a steal.
Now, does that mean that they do trade Lowe, keep him? We shall see.
Snagging Webb might actually be a move that pays off big-time for our bullpen, as well.
I like that it's just 3 years as well.

There were some other non-tendered relievers that would be good additions as well.

His career average is 244 against LHers and 253 against RHers.

I don't usually look at career stats unless the guy had a down year last year and they could be looking at him hoping he'll rebound. Most of the time the club seems to be looking at "what have you done lately" because guys change stances/mechanics and can improve at one side or the other of the the plate from years prior and they hope it will carry over to this year...

Do you have any particular ones in mind?
These two posts show the one other guy I mentioned as well as some that Jamey Newberg mentioned.

JT Chargois, a reliever, is now a free agent after the Mariners non-tendered him. He has put some some good numbers.

From Jamey Newberg:

Among the non-tenders around the league who jumped out at me as potential free-agent targets for the Rangers:

  • OF Austin Hays (Phillies): I’m very intrigued by this one. As discussed at length in the left field and center field entries in my roster-building series (see below), it would make a lot of sense for the Rangers to bring in both a strong right-handed hitter to pair with Evan Carter and a late-inning defensive replacement — assuming they want someone at a lesser cost than Leody Taveras — who can step in if Carter is pulled for a pinch-hitter against a tough southpaw reliever. Hays could fill both roles.
    • He hit .354/.405/.537 (.941 OPS) in 90 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers in 2024. For his seven-year career, he has an OPS of .800 against lefties (.719 against righties).
    • The 29-year-old was an All-Star — as well as a Gold Glove finalist (as a left fielder) — in 2023 with the Orioles.
    • Trading for him — which is something I’m sure Philadelphia exploreed — was probably not an attractive option given that Hays’s arbitration projection called for a $6.4 million contract.
    • This one is worth keeping close tabs on. Hays will surely look for an everyday role, but if one doesn’t materialize, he’d conceivably have an opportunity here for a significant role that could make a deal attractive to both sides.
  • Relievers with recent closer experience:
    • RHP Jordan Romano (Blue Jays)
    • RHP Kyle Finnegan (Nationals)
    • RHP Adbert Alzolay (Cubs) — though he’ll miss most of the 2025 season after August 2024 Tommy John surgery
  • Potential leverage relievers:
    • LHP Colin Poche (Rays) — Flower Mound native
    • RHP Brent Honeywell (Dodgers)
    • RHP Dillon Tate (Blue Jays)
    • RHP Tanner Rainey (Nationals)
    • LHP Hoby Milner (Brewers)
    • RHP JT Chargois (Mariners)
    • RHP Jacob Webb (Orioles)
  • Rotation depth:
    • RHP Cal Quantrill (Rockies)
    • RHP Griffin Canning (Braves) — barely; he came over on Halloween for OF Jorge Soler
    • LHP Patrick Sandoval (Angels) — expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season after June 2024 Tommy John surgery
  • Outfield options:
    • OF Ramon Laureano (Braves) — perhaps a fallback to Hays; .869 OPS against lefties in 2024 (.802 career) and can play all three outfield spots
    • OF Dylan Carlson (Rays) — switch-hitter historically better against lefties
    • OF Mike Tauchman (Cubs)

From Jeff Wilson:

#Rangers are no longer in pursuit of a starting pitcher (other than Roki Sasaki). Will stay open-minded, though, Chris Young said.

Chargois would be another solid signing. I'd like to sign at least two relievers of his caliber, to go with Webb and moving Gray to a high-leverage role.

That's good news. They can focus solely on the bullpen at this point.
Now, if they did some land Sasaki, that could actually end up indirectly helping the pen by moving a guy like Dunning into the pen, too, I guess.

I still want Tanner Scott and Yates, but that would require trading Lowe.

I think Dunning is already in the pen.

deGrom
Eovaldi
Bradford
Mahle
Rocker

That is how I think it lines up right now.

I keep forgetting about Mahle. To be honest, he's the one I wish they'd trade. He'd free up 16.5 million, I believe. That's your money to bring back Kirby Yates right there.

Jamey Newberg is saying he will disclose a juicy trade rumor he has come across, this evening.

Yes, but they may wait to see if they get Sasaki first. Who knows though, they might go ahead and trade Mahle before finding out about Sasaki.

No biggie. I was just mentioning it. He seems to have a lot of upside.
