What's sad is that I think even a decent starting pitching performance would have won us this game. Even with Dempster struggling, we had the lead at 3-1. His inability to throw a strike forced Wash's hand. Then our worst 3 relievers just poured gasoline all over the fire and turned it into a laugher.
The one pitcher that I believe who could win in this park against Weaver would be Darvish. Its ashame he was not scheduled to pitch tonite. Right now he has gotten into a groove and I believe he would have given us a good chance to win. It will be with great pleasure to see him try and beat CJ on Thursday
What's also troubling is that Josh took himself out of a really important game due to "sinus problems". Beltre injures his shoulder and begs Wash to keep him in the game. Hamilton gets sinus problems and has to exit the game.
At least we get to see Font's debut.
What's sad to me is that I looked forward to watching this game all day, now that they have crapped the bed the way that they have, I won't be able to go sleep because it has pissed me off so much.
Maybe we won't win this one, but I'd at least like to see something positive with carryover effect happen between now and the end of the game. Maybe we score some runs and put a little doubt into their minds. Maybe Weaver blows his arm out. Something. Anything.
CJ pitches tomorrow against Holland.
Same here. Thought we were going to win this game because Dempster has been pitching well and no Pulholz to deal with. The Rangers have have been hitting the ball hard tonite on Weaver and probably could have put together some more runs. Its hard to blame thses guys for perhaps losing some focus when you have a couple of pitchers who completely shattered any hopes of winning the game in one half inning
Anyone see what Font was hitting on the radar gun?
I agree. The pitching alone gets the blame for tonight's total failure. Dempster and Lowe were both really bad, and Scheppers should be forced to pitch in a dress from now on for his shameful display of a total lack of heart and grit.
Again, worst half inning of the season. Hopefully tomorrow they'll flip the script.
