yeah, niemi is hot as hell... I can see how dominant he can be as he was against the sharks in the WCF. He can be a bit of a sieve when he's off, but man can he steal games and stone opposition.

btw, I agree with drew. The avs gave away two very very good players for a solid but overrated dman. Johnson does not equal pronger. Shattenkirk though has great speed and skill and stewart is a dominant power forward.

The trade will be judged if:
A. Stl makes the PO's.
B. next year if colorado returns to goodness and/or stl makes the PO's easily.

I think the trade means, they are going to let Liles go or trade him by the deadline or the off season. Johnson is still very young and missed an entire season, so he is still early in his development. He will be a stud, maybe a shade under Doughty good.

Shattenkirk is a rookie, as Del Zotto in New York proved, just because your good your first year doesnt mean your going to be good after that.

Niemi is a better goalie now then he was in the playoffs last year, the sharks made him look better then he was and the Hawks defense helped as well. He has adjusted his game and the sharks D has figured out how to play in front of him.

You have to give credit to the coaching staff on that and it hurts to say this, Corey Hirsch and Wayne Thomas for straigthening out his game.

That being said Dwill would be wise to sign Niemi to a 4 year 4 mill a season deal now or atleast a stepped contract starting in the mid 3's and ending at 4

He is Josh Gorges, with offensive ability. Gorges is a great postional dman, but he was to light and got pushed around. The sharks have decent depth to where White shouldnt be put in those types of positions often.

Calgary has a big slow defense, so white was handcuffed playing with guys who couldnt skate, with the sharks its going to be different. The sharks style of play suits his far better then the flames grind it out style

That's what I'm hoping too. Todd wants the dmen to jump in if they happen to see an opportunity so as White gets used to that, I hope we can see breakouts where he joins the rush as a legit option to score. Not like, say, Vlasic or Wallin on the rush which wouldn't scare any goalie.
