Gurol says his students got the idea of a flat planet from basketball star Kyrie Irving, who said as much on a podcast.

"And immediately I start to panic. How have I failed these kids so badly they think the Earth is flat just because a basketball player says it?" He says he tried reasoning with the students and showed them a video. Nothing worked.

"They think that I'm part of this larger conspiracy of being a round-Earther. That's definitely hard for me because it feels like science isn't real to them."

Actually the dumbing-down already happened, it's why we have so many automatons graduating from public schools who are just so absolutely certain that they know this or that, yet are unable to prove or substantiate any of it.

They feel like they "know" it because it was drilled into their brain by teachers over a series of years.

But they don't actually know anything.

It's not necessary to re-prove the Earth isn't flat, or evolution, or climate change. "Alternate facts" are a big problem, however. Feeding lies to the great unwashed without shame, or consequence seemingly.
