Lets let Taylor sit the rest of the year so he can get to full health for that NFL career him and Pelini were talking about :dhd:

I am really excited for Tommy. This little supposed turf toe deal is exactly what Nebraska needed.

This experience is going to go a long ways for him going into next year.

Not to mention, Beck simplifies the gameplan with Tommy in there........which actually makes our Offense more dangerous, go figure. If only he would do that while Taylor is playing.

Another good thing about this is that if Husker Nation continues to snuggle with Tommy's nuts this can only make Taylor focus harder on making less mistakes and playing better when he returns to full health.

Competition makes teams good.......in our case it's competition by default, but I'll take it.

Just out of curiosity, which game did T.F. step in and become the permanent starter? Anyone of the top of their head? I am too lazy to look it up...

Tommie took Mike Grant's starting spot against Missouri in game 6.

There are a couple differences. It wasn't due to a Grant injury and Tommie was a true freshman.

I' ll never forget the Iowa St loss that year. One of few Frazier losses. Nebraska couldn't get out of his own way..

"Another promising freshman quarterback earned the starting job under center at NU due to an injury (and poor performances by the incumbent senior) just over 20 years ago. Sound familiar?"

From this article - Should Armstrong get the job? : Dylan-guenther

Are you sure Grant wasn't banged up?
-------
According to the MadChatter from 10/2 where a couple of football columns were reprinted from the time Grant was no longer the starter, he had the flu & was playing with a sore back. How much of that is/was legit at the time, I cannot remember (although I recall Grants back issues).

I don't recall an injury. Just that Grant was struggling.
