A lot of the Redskin beat reporters think he'll be on the team, final roster, once he is reinstated at the end of the month. Grant Paulsen was just talking about it on 106.7

I see no way he is on the 53 man roster at the end of the month. He will not be in "football shape". Even if he is re-instated, shows the coaches he still can play, and gets back into "football shape" (which will take 2-4 weeks), who gets cut? Doughty? I don't think so, he's too valuable on STs and can play backup to both positions. One of the rookies? No way. Merriweather? Only if his knee is still bothering him. One of the CBs (assuming we go with 6 CBs and 4 S).

I think a more likely scenario, if he is re-instated, is that he is immediately put on the PUP list to allow him to get into shape. Then in a few weeks, they will make a determination what do do with him. We may need him at some point in the season due to injury. OR maybe we could trade him, although I don't see a huge demand for him.

pup list makes since. Starting the regular season on the pup list mean you must miss the first what 4 games? or is it 6...i can't remember...that should be enough time to evaluate and get him back in shape.
Honestly I don't think, he deserves a spot here, but there were some past points made that if he is "better" than what we currently have on the field, you have to at least consider him

Me, too. That's why I put it in quotes. Shanahan says it about 10 times every press conference. However, I do know what he means. There is a difference between being in good shape and being ready to take and receive hits. Remember, Tanard hasn't actually played in an NFL game in close to 2 years. There is no way he can step in and contribute if he is re-instated the first week of the season. It will take him 2-4 weeks of practice and studying the playbook as he has had no contact with the team since this time last year.

Do you really think Tanard doesn't have a team ipad to study? Do you really think he has had NO contact with R. Morris? C'mon man!!!! :omg:

Here's why I think Jackson has a shot at the 53 man roster.

Bacarri Rambo is the only real FS on the roster who is good in coverage. Having a vet like Jackson who can back up Rambo may be a necessity.

The problem though, is that he can't be trusted. And I would worry about him being a bad influence off the field to players like Rambo who've had their own issues. But from an X's and O's standpoint it would be difficult to keep him off the roster.

If he's reinstated, his performance in the preseason schedule will determine everything.

Take that back regarding preseason. If he's not back until late August then they'd be giving him a roster spot based on a whim.

what are the chances he gets reinstated before or during pre season?

I think PUP is the way to go.

And i wouldnt laugh at being in "Football Shape"

there is a reason why shanahan stresses and says this so much. There is a big difference between being in shape and being in football shape.

He cant be reinstated until Aug 31 at the soonest. So if he is reinstated, he will be put on the PUP list.

yup and the uncertainty of merriweather makes it seem like hes more than likely going to be with us, if reinstated.

How old is he btw?

merriweather looks like a PUP list certainty at this point so jackson could be in the cards

Yes, I really think he has had no contact what so ever with R. Morris or any of the coaching staff. It would be complete ignorance to risk it when Godell/Mara are looking for any reason they can to slap sanctions on you. What do you gain by having contact with him?
