2 years (as an overage player) at $2.125m
good for Andy.

(I know he was coming off of at $3m/yr deal - still think it's a bit rich for his age & skillset.)

The cap has gone up waaaaaaaaaaay too fast and like I said in the swamp over a year ago. The NHL is going to find itself in the same boat it was in before the lock out season.

I also hate some of these arbitrators rulings. The league had a few sound financial years after the lockout and started spending like the US government and NO smart business does that. There are good times and bad times and you better watch be smart about it and the NHL isn't.

Does anyone know what the percentage the cap has gone up since the lockout? I think it was something like 38% after only three years and still going up in a terrible economy. Smart?

Someone needs to kill penalties and crush opposing forwards. The Ducks are going to have one thin team next year, especially on D.

Boss, look at this excerpt I just found, from a 2005 news story.

The league and players' union traded a flurry of proposals and letters Tuesday night, but could never agree on a cap. The players proposed $49 million per team; the owners said $42.5 million. But a series of conditions and fine print in both proposals made the offers further apart than just $6.5 million per team.

We lost an entire year of the NHL, we lost a year of Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman, Scott Stevens, and Dominic Hasek so we could end up with a cap over $15 million higher than the ones the owners locked out for. Fuck you Gary, and fuck you owners.

Couldn't agree more and they are headed that way again but this time it could be fatal.

Another lockout would do a ton of damage to the league. Hopefully the owners are smart enough to realize that and come to some sort of agreement at the next CBA.
