The parallels abound when looking at these two historic games:

Super Bowl XXXII - January 26, 1998 Green Bay vs. Denver
Super Bowl 50 - February 7, 2016 Carolina vs. Denver

1998: Packers overwhelming favorites with a spread of 13 points
2016: Panthers overwhelming favorites with a spread of 5.5 points

1998: The Broncos O-line is the smallest in the league and can't match up with the Packer's huge D-line.
2016: The Broncos offensive line isn't any good and the Broncos won't be able to run on the Panthers

1998: The Broncos QB has become a game manager reliant on the run and is approaching retirement
2016: The Broncos QB has become a game manager, has a weak arm and will surely retire

1998: The Broncos defense won't be able to slow down the powerful Packer's offense
2016: The Broncos defense won't be able to stop the Panther's running game or slow down Newton

1998: Broncos O-coordinator Gary Kubiak favors ZBS in the running game
2016: Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak favors ZBS in the running game

1998: Broncos QB has a long history of getting blown out in Super Bowls
2016: Broncos QB has a long history of choking (perceived) in big playoff games (i.e. SB 48)

1998: Super Bowl played on the West Coast ensuring more Broncos fans in the stands
2016: Super Bowl played on the West Coast ensuring more Broncos fans in the stands

1998: Hardly any experts give the Broncos a chance to win the game - fuels the Broncos fire
2016: Hardly any experts give the Broncos a chance to win the game - fuels the Broncos fire

1998: The NFC is the more powerful conference. AFC is weak in comparison
2016: Power Rankings all year favor NFC teams in the top 5. AFC thought to be weaker conference

1998: "This one's for John!" (Pat Bowlen)
2016: "This one's for Pat!" (John Elway)

1998: Broncos 31 - Packers 24
2016: Broncos 31 - Packers 24???

Eerie similarities. Does this bode well for our beloved Broncos?? Go Broncos!!

Love it! This definitely does have the feel of the 1997 team. They too were a very scrappy bunch that seemed to be playing above expectations. They just kept clawing every single game and that fight mentality paid off big time. I look at the Carolina Panthers a bit like our 2012 team. Superior talent on both sides of the ball in a season where we blew out pretty much everybody. I think we had an 11-game win streak where not team was closer than 7 points during that stretch. That was great and all but it left us unprepared when we did find ourselves in a dog fight to be able to punch the other team back. This is why I keep saying if the Broncos can keep this game within 7 points at half time I think they win as they will be the team with more fight in the 2nd half.

Are you saying Manning is going to get helicopter spun on a rushing play late in the game?

I do -kind of - expect Manning to show an epic effort on some play.

I've already envisioned Sanders coming in motion, Peyton handing him ball, looking like sweep, Sanders stopping and throwing ball back to Manning, Manning throwing to a wide open Daniel's,Fowler or Norwood for a 68 yd Td !. I've also envisioned Cam running for a big 1st down, Trev or Marshall just lighting him up, forcing fumble that results in 50 yd Td by Roby.! I have had many blissful visions. There still is a kid in me deep down :)
