Pirates get win #82. That's a winning season.

Fuck everyone who says that's meaningless after dealing with 20 years of losing seasons.

It is interesting that 3 of the 4 teams got a double-digit shutout, and the Cubs scored 10 runs as well.

I picked the Pirates to finish last in the Central before the season. When weighed against preseason expectations, this was a great season for the Pirates. Nobody gave them a chance, and they were playing meaningful games in August and finished with a winning record.

Meanwhile the Phillies were 15 games over .500 on August 7th and in first, and they finished with a losing record and in third place

And the Rays finished with 90 wins. That's a pretty damn good season and at no point were they ever really in the playoff discussion. That's crazy. Most years 90 wins will at least get you a WC spot. That's another team that greatly exceeded preseason expectations.

Kinda funny how they shipped their two biggest name guys off and get their best record in 3 years. Granted McCutchen already beginning to decline some. They finished a little above what I expected so I'm content. Work to do with the infield but a lot to like pitching, outfield and catching-wise.

That team will be dangerous. Between the pieces they got from Archer and adding Pham, they have set themselves up nicely.

The Pirates were tough on the Brewers this season. 2019 will be a great year in the Central

4 teams in the NL central with winning records. No other division can say that. There are 8 teams in the AL with losing records which inflates the win totals for those leading the AL divisions. Weak competition in the AL
