Fuck the umps. We can just put a light for ball and a light for strike behind the plate.

My problem with this rule change is a knucklehead can ruin it for the entire team.

ruin it for an entire team is a bit harsh...

my problem with this is whether it is simply black and white, strike or ball... or will a call stand when its within a specific measurement of the call... as in if it is close then the call with stand(close would have to be within milimeters( or whatever))...

Not sure how this thing defines a strike zone and can it be "fudged"? Can a batter crouch enough to get an Eddie Gaedel strike zone?

In minor league games, the success rate for the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system was about 54% for defenses and 48% for offenses.

^^^ too close to 50/50 to have an overall season impact.

Wait.... so half of the time, the calls were changed?

That is very worth it...

But that near 50/50 is for ALL teams, which makes it a push. Clubs are better off with a good framing catcher like Grandal.

I might be misunderstanding the stats.

The way I read it is: when the defense calls the challenge (pitcher or catcher), it is overturned 54% of the time. When the offense calls the challenge (batter), it is overturned 48% of the time.
