Hasn't gotten us any closer? He got us to the AFCCG Psych! Which had been 6 years since PIT's last appearance... But I'm just bustin your balls. I think I know exactly what you mean.I'm not so sure I want to buy into his bullshit.
He has said several things that have either blown up in his face, or have just been a complete failure on his part.
He has for many years bullshited all of us with his philosophies and it's not gotten us any closer. He needs to put up or shut up.
In the beginning of his stay in the Burg he rode the coattails of Cowhers team, and tried very hard to keep that team together. Now he has tried to put his team together, there have been shining moments and Shit moments. But at the end of the day, he is still short of the goal.
Sorry guys, I've heard this story before and it's time for him to put up or shut up.

Even though he's fairly consistent, he doesn't have much to show for it.
There's still plenty to be optimistic about. Through 10 seasons, Tomlin's teams have only missed the playoffs 3 times. Granted yes he rode the coattails of Cowher for about 5 years before he really had to rebuild. This team suffered through a couple 8-8 seasons due in large part to draft failures of '08 & '09, even '12. But seeing how each year they have been getting 1 step closer is good news. It's painful as fans to see them go so far, yet fall so hard. Tomlin is definitely approaching Andy Reid territory. Statistically speaking, both coaches are phenomenal, rarely missing the playoffs. But they still just can't seem to get the job done when it matters most.
It's been a frustrating 6 years since losing the SB to GB... But nobody can deny that they are legitimate contenders every year for the last 3 years. I think the biggest defining moment in Tomlin's career will be when Ben retires. Then we'll truly see what Tomlin's made of.
