The reason for this is because the coaching staff still has not prioritized improving the offensive line.
Until they make the decision that this OL needs significant improvement, nothing will change. End of Story.
I don't think they haven't prioritized it. They have acknowledged it's a problem. The problem is there just aren't quality OL out there. You posted that injuries are piling up, yet teams aren't bringing in any of those FAs. 32 NFL teams along with their coaching staffs and talent evaluators obviously see a reason not to bring them in. Even if NE brought one of them in, how long before they could possibly gel and be even slightly effective? OL needs to play together to gel. Some critics say two years.

We're stuck with what we have. Get them healthy and pray for the best. Address it in the off-season barring more injuries.

That's where the problem starts. Instead of attempting to address it, they6 ignore it and for some strange reason, believe that they can address it in the fourth, fifth or seventh round of the draft.

The best OL are taken i8mmediately in the first round of any draft. The Patriots, since 1999 can't or won't put other things aside to make sure that the OL is solid. Without an OL, nothing functions correctly. It's like being in a battle. If your enemy has automatic weapons and unlimited ammo, what are your chances of victory if your shooting back with CO2 Pellet Guns?? The Patriots are trying to respond with BB guns.

As far as 2025 goes, just how many starting OL will they need to improve this team?? How many drafts will it take to fill every serious flaw in the OL?? Next February, 50% of the fans will be screaming for a WR or DE while the rest of us will be begging for a LT. I'm not sure where Wolfe's head will be, especially if he's not named GM officially.

You can't address everything in one or two drafts. Should the Pats have forgone on Gonzo or Maye? Their drafts have been solid. The Oline has just started to decline over the past couple years. That's in part due to guys leaving, No Scar, injuries and guys having to play out of position.

I think one good LT and the line can be decent again. Get guys back in their original positions and take it from there.

NE will likely be in a very good position to get a top OL in the draft. Possibly two if they have the #1 or #2 pick and can find a trade partner.

Can they sign other FAs? That is still TBD. It won't be easy given their current state of affairs. When/ if healthy the D and STs are solid. Fix the OL and possibly #1WR and this team is not far away from playing good football again.

Ok let me play devils advocate.

You chose on rookie who is making an impact on a better team than NE.

Jump back one year ago. Anthony Richardson. Drafted #4. Got his start around week 4. Injuried throughout the season hardly played. Fast forward 2024. Same player who has a cannon of an arm, runs a 4.4, better oline, WRs and arguably better RBs is leading the league in INTs and lowest passer rating in the NFL under 50%.

How are the other rookie QBs doing that got drafted last year?
Yep, probably not the best comparison. Was alluding more to another team starting a top-pick rookie, with a below average O-line, and playing way above expectations. Daniels does look like the real deal for them.

Make the call Bob, make the call.

His Longhorns Bio reads pretty well. He's been coaching since '95, so 30 years now.

Whereas Peters has more than a hint of cronyism coming from the Browns and in his 5th year.
Granted he has decent O Line experience, but some players transition to coaching, some do not.
Not sure what Kugler brings, but there is no cap on salary or number of coaches so I whole heartedly agree. His resume reads a lot better than what we have now, bring him in to mentor the two we have now.

As long as he can leave Bayside NY in NY...:D

I’m not certain I would start him or play him for any stretch of time until I was certain he wasn’t gonna get killed in the first quarter.
Watching Brissett getting knocked around yesterday is not confidence inspiring

He didn't do much to help himself. Back a few years ago (Colts) he could move out of the pocket and run or throw pretty well.
Now, he seems much slower and just doesn't seem to be able to see open WRs cutting across the field. And he repeatedly threw into double or triple coverage. It's sad to see him seem so indecisive.

He's getting banged around so badly I'm surprised he's getting back up!

Pats to start Drake Maye against Texans

I call my dad once a week and I am headed that way Saturday morning. While speaking with him last night he had the news on and mentioned Maye would start. We still lose this game but its time to see what the kid has.

So the questions remain:
If Maye loses a bunch of games, do we know anything?
Do we draft a QB with #1 pick?
Do we give Milton a chance Too?

Maye will lose b/c the O line is shite. Maye is more mobile and I feel like will get rid of the ball quicker. We have to draft O Line

I believe we will do better with him. We may lose the games because of a bunch of other mistakes team is committing, but hopefully he plays well.

If the OL can stop with stupid penalties and give Maye the same amount of time that Brissett could not take advantage of, thing may turn around a bit.

All I watched in the hospital was ESPN and there are a bunch of people that believe that the Patriots will win this week. According to some, the Texans have dropped off a bit and losing Nio Collins will be a severe loss. He's accounted for 45% of the passing yards and 30% of the scoring.
