Some of the Oilers media fanboys think the gap between the Panthers and Oilers isn't very big. Didn't the Panthers just set the record for most time leading in a Stanley Cup Final series?

Edmonton Radio just said that Skinner did not let in one bad goal in the Playoffs (or did he say Finals)

That 3-0 Goal was the back breaker and while it did bounce off a foot his rebound on it was as bad as it gets. This to me is a bad goal as a result of a really bad play from the goalie and there were plenty of those moments across the playoffs for Skinner.

He had a sub .900 save percentage in the playoffs. The Oilers were very opportunistic (and lucky) to make it as far as they did with the play of both of their goalies. That said, I hope the Oilers brain trust think they're just a tweak away and make very few changes.

He did not let in one bad goal. He let in dozens.

Goalie practice group chat lit up last night with the Dwight Schrute screaming gif and comment "coach watching whatever Skinner was doing on that third goal" and a bunch of comments about how they hope I can relax and didn't break my tv.

They are just a goalie tweak away - the Pacific apart from them and Vegas sucks so it’s relatively easier first rounds of the playoffs. Colorado and Dallas are better teams but the current playoff format favors the Pacific teams. That being said a goalie with a .920 and they still lose - Florida is a wagon right now.

They should have traded Ryan Nothing-Happens a couple of seasons ago when he had his career year of 104 points, imagine the package they could have obtained. Instead, they're locked into a rapidly declining asset who is a PP merchant at this stage in his career. Nurse is terrible defensively as is Bouchard who they're going to sign to big money and then wonder why they are continually fishing the puck out of their net.

You are right though esls, the Pacific Division does suck and the current playoff format really aids the Oilers to make it a cakewalk to representing the West. They're being fooled into thinking they're on the cusp.

Edmonton allowed 15 goals off of turnovers in the finals (defined as within 10 seconds ofvthe turnover)

Leaky defense, no support, and very few timely saves.

That panther forecheck was relentless and incredibly effective.
And can we all finally agree that Bouchard is not an elite defender ?
(Though the Oilers should definitely pay him more than Nurse)

He'd better not be on Team Canada at the 2026 Olympics.
