Just for anyone who's curious and doesn't know exactly what is going on, this is what the final result will be. From what I understand everything will be done by this March... Though I find that incredibly hard to believe.

It's the fact that you can get a beer in one bar and walk out with it and head to another bar........just like Vegas en sech.

Oh ok.

Well as long as the arena's not on campus they can serve alcohol at the games too. NU can do nothing about any of it.

The only time alcohol is banned by the NCAA is for championship events like if Lincoln were to host a bball regional.

Alcohol will not be served during any UNL functions at the arena.

Also, sorry fellers but this is not gonna be anything like Vegas. This IS lincoln Nebraska we're talking about here:

"The City of Lincoln has imposed some rules to protect the Haymarket's historic integrity, as well as keeping the area family-friendly. No stand-alone bars will be allowed — every place that serves alcohol is required to have a kitchen, and no more than half can derive more than 50 percent of their revenue from liquor sales.

Eighty-five percent of the retail establishments must be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., hours designed to minimize darkened windows at night while still ensuring daytime bustle.

The city also bars billboards, liquor stores, cigarette outlets, sexually oriented businesses and gambling establishments from the development.

“We're not going to have everything for everybody,” Scott said. “This will be a place where you can bring your kid down, day or night, and still feel comfortable.”

Okay so now that we have a new development that is "family friendly", they need to start developing a newer area that caters to adults... Maybe just do a massive renovation project on the O street area.

I love O street and all, but some of the bars are run down as fuck, and it's just gotten dirtier and dirtier.

There's a point where a "staple of O street" type bar loses it's charm and crosses into the "shithole that doesn't even qualify as a hole in the wall" category.

Lincoln OKs Haymarket complex - Omaha.com

They have an agreement w/ the university then. They sell alcohol for Creighton and UNO games in Omaha at Century Link
