I was blown away when I saw the sportsbook was giving 7.5 points on the Warriors tonight. I don't think Vegas has any idea about the Warriors.

Pop is a clown lol.

He just said " I thought it was polite of them (Steph & Klay) to not be on the same night"

Nope. Maybe Spurs in 7 but I think this is going to be a long series.

Long series favors the younger Warriors, right?

Ive always been in favor of the short but sweet mind set when playing an experienced team. I think the longer it goes on the more time Pop has to adjust and experience takes over. GSW better kill the Spurs as quickly as possible.

The Spurs did nothing wrong.

With a 3 point shooting team, sometimes you will have games where one dude goes unconscious. And if your team goes ice cold from 3, it only makes it worse.

The Spurs missed all their first half threes.
The Warriors hit every one no matter how ridiculous.
They were +30 in 3 point margin by halftime.
That is the first time it happened by halftime in Spurs history (regular and post-season).

It was not bad Spurs defense.
It was not great Warriors defense.
The 3 point shot sometimes is just one of those things that come in waves.

Pop is not going to change a thing.

If Thompson keeps hitting 8/9 on 3 pointers, there is really nothing you can do.

................

But, the Spurs definitely need to get Tiago healthy.

That is their primary advantage. The Spurs should just pound the Warriors on the offensive glass, but Pop is going with Diaw and Matt Bonner(??) as the starting center. He never did that as far back as I can remember.

Tiago made a cameo in the series finally and pulled down 5 boards in 9 minutes. That is more than Boris and Matty did combined in the first two games.

if Tiago is too hurt to play, I think Pop needs to go with Dajuan Blair.
Diaw and Bonner are shooters NOT offensive rebounders. That helps Golden State.

Pop has some stubborn issue with Dajuan. But, he is arguably the best offensive rebounder on the team when he plays.

I almost forgot about Blair. He must be in the doghouse big time. He would really help the Spurs right about now.

Good point, as usual, Montsho.

I was thinking before the series even started that the Warriors stand a better chance of wearing the Spurs out over a longer series, because of their youth and Spurs tendency to get injured.

I didn't notice any major adjustments by Pop last night, and Horns seems to think they don't need any going forward. I don't know how you adjust to shut down both Curry and Thompson at the same time. Doesn't seem possible. He went off in the first half from 3 because the Spurs were loading up one side of the court to stop Curry but the Warriors kept swinging the ball to the open man, which was Thompson.

I thought the Spurs would do a better job of getting to shooters, yet the Warriors kept getting great looks at the basket, mostly because Curry was getting into the lane almost at will for the first two games.

You cant contain them both when they are on but Curry is the more lethal of the 2. Klay can disappear at times without any adjustments from the other team. Sometimes he is what I call a self check. Spurs have to double Curry and get it out of his hands. On the other side of the ball they have to feed GSW a steady diet of Parker and Duncan PnR, Duncan in the post, and Parker in the lane. That and inexperience are GSW's only weak areas.

Thing about Thompson/Warriors though, is that Thompson's defense is way underrated and seems to be a steady constant regardless of his offense. Was that the case all season? I didn't watch every game this year, like I'm sure you did. Parker and Duncan are getting their numbers, but I don't think I've ever seen either of them look so bothered offensively.

Dajuan Blair has to be a better option than Matt Bonner at center.

The easiest way for San Antonio to win this series is to physically maul the Warriors on the offensive glass.

Tiago Splitter is hurt. There is not much the Spurs can do about that fact.

As for Blair, Popovich is being sort of a dick to prove a point.

He hates Blair for some late practice issues, so he would rather see Matt Bonner be the starting center.

The SPURS will win this series if they can do what they should be doing on the offensive glass.

But the Spurs are only +5 for the series in offensive rebounding.
They need to be about +7/game....not +2.5/game

Matt Bonner is a horrible offensive rebounder.
That is just making it too easy for GSW.

Best Offensive Rebounders on the team:
Dajuan Blair 9.5%
Splitter 8.8%
Duncan 7.3%
then a ton of other dudes
Diaw 4.7%
Bonner 3.4%

Unless Matt Bonner and Diaw are hitting a bunch of 3-pointers, I have no idea why Popovich is being a dick.

Klays defense has been good at times during the season but he does tend to get over eager and make mistakes. See game 1. He has picked up his defense a notch along with his rebounding in the playoffs according to the eye test. No doubt someone lit a fire under him. I think Parker is still not even 90% and thats one of the reasons GSW needs to get this over ASAP. Bogut is a big skilled player and will give Duncan some issues just because of his size but Duncan can get him in foul trouble if Spurs force feed him.

From what I remember of Thompson during the draft was that he was an elite defender with a stroke... Haven't seen a lot of the Warriors ball since he was drafted though... One thing I do know, if they don't sign both he and Curry to long term deals like Okc did with Durant and Westbrook, one of those 2 will be a Laker... I have a feeling it will be Curry... Curry and Dwight post Kobe...?

Sorry Wik. Curry is going nowhere if his ankles hold up. Klay is good but he has more improvement to do before he will be even all-star status. He seems to have the temperament and work ethic to make it. Probably his 5th year

Blair was torched defensively in game one, he looked terrible out there. Not a Bonner apologist, but he did have 2 offensive rebounds in game 2. The problem for me was why start Bonner and only give Diaw 8 minutes? Diaw played great in game 1, he should have got the start if the Spurs didn't want to put Splitter in there. As far as the offensive rebounding goes, the Spurs got 17 in game 2, they averaged 8 per game in the regular season, worst in the league. Part of this is not personnel, but by design. The Spurs focus on getting back on defense, they often send nobody to crash the offensive boards.
I think the Spurs need to go back to what made them so good all season. Start Splitter next to Duncan, and pick and roll teams to death. Make the Warriors match their size and have to play big, if they don't, pound the ball inside, or play high/low with Duncan and either Splitter or Diaw. Also don't leave 3 point shooters wide open, and don't settle for jump shots. The Spurs will lose if they try to have a jump shooting contest with the Warriors, they just shoot too well.
