The statement is "Nobody gave GSW a chance."

If 11 of 18 experts picked it to go 6 or 7 games, that is supporting the exact opposite of that premise.

By picking a series to go 7 games, you are essentially saying its a virtual even match.

The statement wasn't: "Nobody picked GSW."

The statement was: "Nobody gave GSW a chance."

Those are completely different statements.

Nobody gave Milwaukee a chance.
Everyone though Golden State had a chance.

The statement is "Nobody gave GSW a chance."

No, actually what you said was, "Everyone gave [the Warriors] a chance . . ."

Also, note that I was quoting the above statement, what you said.

If 11 of 18 experts picked it to go 6 or 7 games, that is supporting the exact opposite of that premise.

Again, this shows that 7 of the experts in fact did not give them a chance. In other words, it shows that NOT EVERYONE GAVE THEM A CHANCE.

See the difference yet?

The statement wasn't: "Nobody picked GSW."

The statement was: "Nobody gave GSW a chance."

Those are completely different statements.

LOL. It's pretty funny that you're the one who obviously didn't pick your words wisely, yet you feel it's appropriate to lecture me on the arrangement of words in a statement. Sorry, you're just wrong. It happens.

Point is nobody picked the warriors to " WIN" the series so i guess you can say that nobody gave them a chance to win the series.

My bad I thought you meant in the Denver series.

GSW doesn't stand much of a chance

Actually one person on ESPN picked GSW in 7 while 3 picked the Spurs in 7 and 5 picked Spurs in 6 so I'll say 9 of the 17 ESPN writers are giving GSW a chance. If you predict a series to go 6, you're giving that team a chance to win it

I guess i don't buy into you translating predictions that

in 4 games = no chance
in 6+ games = a chance

By playing the games, every team theoretically "has a chance" to win that game.

What these "experts" are predicting is that Denver will win and the Warriors will lose the series. Predicting a team to win two games in a series where four games is the goal isn't the same thing as saying they have a chance to win a series, imo.

I woke up today extremely optimistic about our team's chances now. Maybe its foolish hope but my prediction is Warriors in 6.

Doesn't seem foolish to me, SFA. I'm really surprised so few Warriors fans are even "giving them a chance" haha. The players could get complacent, satisfied with the second round, as some have said, but I don't see that in this team with Mark Jackson and Steph Curry leading the charge. I think they're the most fun team to watch in sports right now, largely because they actually believe they can beat teams they're not supposed to beat.

One thing's certain, the Spurs better stomp the Warriors spirit out quickly if they want to advance. If this series drags on, the Warriors should wear them out.

As a Warriors fan I more confident playing the Spurs as I’ve been….well ever. The Warriors have played the Spurs pretty good this season. They lost the 1st game @ SA by 7. For the Warriors neither Curry or Bogut played. For the Spurs Manu was out. It was a fairly close game. The Warriors won the 2nd game in Oakland in OT. No Bogut for the Warriors. Jack had a career type of night. The Warriors lost the 3rd meeting in San Antonio. Tim Duncan dominated. Spurs played without Parker. And the final game Warriors won in Oakland easily but the Spurs were without Manu, Parker and Duncan.

The two things you can really take from these games. One, the Warriors competed. There was only one quarter in all of the games where the Spurs completely dominated the Warriors and they the 3rd quarter in the 2nd game in San Antonio. Two, Thompson did a pretty good job defending Parker.

This series will be about cross matchups on the outside and man to man inside. Parker – Thompson, Curry – Green, Bogut – Duncan.

Starters
Curry - Paker = Even. Parker is really good breaking down the D. But Curry can light it up from everywhere
Thompson – Green = Even. Both can shoot and play D. Too bad they will not be guarding each other.
Barnes – Leonard = Even. Both young and athletic. Both can do a little a bit of everything.
Landry – Splitter = Adj Warriors. Splitter is a solid player. But Landry is a far better offensive player. Landry will have trouble with Splitter’s length and size. But there’s no way Splitter or Duncan will be able to keep up with Landry’s quickness and strength.
Bogut – Duncan = Adj Spurs. Duncan is a monster. Need I say more. Although Bogut has been playing much better. This matchup will probably decided the series

Bench
Jack – Ginobili – Even. Jack has been playing out of his mind. But Ginobili knows how to flop and get to the line
Green – Bonner = Adj Warriors. Draymond has been playing really really good. The kid is winner. He does all the dirty work. And he can guard 1-5. If Booner is on the floor. I guarantee Green will be in the game.
Festus – Blair = Even. Festus is a defensive player who will see minutes on Duncan and Splitter. No much of a offensive player but he can block shots and rebound with anyone. Blair has skills but Festus’ defensive abilities out weights what ever Blair bring to the table.
Jefferson/Bazemore – Neal = Adj Spurs. The dark house of the series. If Neal catches fire. The Warriors will be gone quick. Plain and simple.

:yahoo: thats the spirit. I woke up the same way!

Lets do this!

Just take 1 at their place and we're in business. (That 20+ road loss streak in SA is virtually meaningless..same uniforms, but different players)

D Pizzle - nice breakdown

Even though D Lee didn't put up big numbers vs the Spurs, I'd really like his passing skills in this series. Warriors get stagnant at times without a passer in the post. Bogut playing big helps a lot.

In the regular season, neither team played at full strength for most of the games. Warriors are hurting and Spurs and relatively rested and healthy.

It is meaningless because we dont have the same players like back then.

Neal is not really a dark horse. He is going to play well. Jefferson should be some help as he knows all the schemes and probably wants to stick it to the Spurs. Bazemore is probably going to be like a deer in the headlights.

Bazemore is lead cheerleader and in charge of ensuring no one rushes the court-adv GSW ;)
