UPDATE: Pelini says no-go Sunday

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said there will be no spring game Sunday due to too many logistical issues with players.

The coach said he doesn't anticipate having a 15th and final practice to complete the spring season.

"I don't think that's going to work out," Pelini said of a Sunday scrimmage. "When we met with the team, there's a lot of issues that go with playing (Sunday). When you talk about family issues ... I had a show of hands of guys who had a problem with tomorrow -- you have projects, academic things, a banquet coming up -- it's not going to work."

It is a setback as far as recruiting goes.........especially for basketball in my opinion. Everything was finally looking good, had some major recruits coming to see what Nebraska is all about...........they would have gotten a good show today.

The scrimmage itself being cancelled does not upset me at all............I don't need to see that. Just wanted the recruits to have a good day.

Hopefully Miles and Chin will still come up with somethin for them though. Seeing the facilities and a presentation on what the new arena will look like will be a start.

Certainly doesn't help the recruiting, hopefully the kids will make it for an official on gameday. Would be helpful to have a few big fish give the word and help draw in more kids down the stretch. I'm pretty selfish as well and I want to see a fucking game

As bad as our team is going to be this year, they really needed the extra scrimmage time. Looking at the history of Pelini's coaching at Nebraska, a losing season in 2012 is a very real possibility. Look what happened after we lost a couple of good players from the 2009 team and then a couple from the 2010 team especially. Losing Lavonte David especially and some offensive linemen to graduation is going to be devastating for the 2012 season.

I really believe for Nebraska to have a successful season, a 9-4 season or so, mistakes like offsides, holding penalties, and turnovers are going to have to be greatly diminished, and I don't all of a sudden foresee that happening.

I know, I know, someone is going to ask me why I'm being so negative. In advance, I'm not being negative, just realistic and I truly hope my assessment is wrong! We'll see next season!

My parting shot... As I look back at the 2010 season, I think that team could have been a dynamite team with the right coaching and play calling.
