Michigan St was NOT in the Western Conference. They were Independent. How many times I gotta tell you that?

I gave credit to Michigan St's UPI/Coaches title in 1965. Even though it was awarded prior to them losing to UCLA in the Rose Bowl.

Michigan St (9-0) wasn't in the Big 10 conference in 1952. They were Independent.

They also did not play a bowl. They are just as worthy as anyone else of that AP title. But it doesn't count as a Big 10 title.
