Well, with VT's extraordinarily weak schedule it's hard to reward them with "Top of the ACC" honors. That means it goes to FSU. That's probably part of it.
And, of course, the fact that they were able to beat a powerhouse like USC in their last game.

I'm not gonna lie, I will probably have Nebraska in my top 3 if they are 5-0 following the game at Wisconsin.

I do believe with any sort of decent offensive production we are one of the best teams in the country.

No homer

Yeah as homer as it sounds coming from you I have to agree

you were a championship contender when your offense played great early last year.

Yep. And if I can tell our offense sucks, then I will have us around middle of the pack........because that is just honestly all the better a team can be with zero offensive production.

I don't pay especially close attention to teams not in the SEC because they hold little bearing on me this season, except Boise State.

As such, I don't feel very qualified in polling (even though I feel more qualified than some of the voters thus far). I will, however, give my thoughts on a few things.

BCS Championship prediction: Alabama > Oklahoma
I hate to hand the championship to a team with such big issues at quarterback, but Alabama showed us last time that they can win the title even with their quarterback hardly playing at all (McElroy threw for 58 yards in the BCSNC and I want to vomit when I hear people giving him any kind of credit). We know how good Richardson is, but Bama will also probably need a powerful number 2 the likes of which they had in Richardson until now (I don't follow Bama enough to know who their backups are and how good they are).

Stanford: As I implied above, I don't think the quarterback position is so important that it will always make or break a team. It certainly isn't the case here. Without Harbaugh, Stanford will not finish in the top 10 this year, nor will they win the Pac-12. They have lost far too much at almost every position group to compete at the level they did last season. I would rank them around 15.

About the team I DO know a lot about: This is the most important season in Athens in a long time, but I think this Georgia team is up to the test.
The very blunt mike LB, Christian Robinson, has made it very clear that there were attitude problems in the program last year, and they have all since been purged. I know that optimistic journalism is nothing new, but I think it might be different this year. The freshmen are making much more of a splash in preseason camp then I thought they would, and a handful (particularly Malcolm Mitchell in a much-doubted wide receiver corps) are pushing the upperclassmen to perform. In the past month, my outlook on this season has greatly changed. Every player I had doubts about has reportedly stepped up, and I am beyond excited to see how it all unfolds.
I would not be surprised to see this team go undefeated in the SEC and earn a spot in Atlanta, although I think it would be a little silly to predict a win in that game.
I believe Georgia is easily a top 20 team and possibly top 15.

As of right now this is how I would rank them in terms of who could be who basically. This is not remotely near how the final 25 will be after conference games finish up.

1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Oregon
4. Stanford
5. Boise St.
6. LSU
7. Wisconsin
8. FSU
9. TAMU
10. Ohio State
11. South Carolina
12. Nebraska
13. Virginia Tech
14. Oklahoma State
15. Michigan State
16. Arkansas
17. Arizona State
18. Auburn
19. TCU
20. Florida
21. Miami
22. Missouri
23. Northwestern
24. NC State
25. WVU

Handful around the 25th spot including Washington, Penn State, Maryland, Michigan, ND, Uconn

I agree with Northwestern they're a good sleeper team they could end up going 12-0 heading into the big 10 title game, before being mauled over by Wisconsin again.

I guess you're right on Florida I dropped them 4 spots, couldn't drop them out because Penn State is my first team out, Florida beat Penn State in their bowl game and Penn State lost more players.

but whats with Arizona State????

they only won 6 games last year and 2 were against FCS schools while another was over Washington State which is pretty much a FCS school.

I don't know, some of these lists look like they are just random selections, but it is the preseason - so I guess they are all kinda random.
