He very well might have (I think so too), but that's a separate matter. Either the elbow is suspendable or not; how good the Ducks are at acting (not very) is inconsequential.

Yeah; that was what raising the elbow was all about. - Catching more air to get added "resistance", thus helping him to slow down.

... Of course, that guy's face helped slow him down too.

Shanny tried to do that when he first started out (remember that 8 game suspension he handed down to Wizniewski), but I'm pretty sure in backroom conversations that the GM/owners/governors started complaining and we're back down to fines or piddly little suspensions.
