Spartacus (TV series)

It was a show on Starz......I believe....but it is coming to SYFY, where it will be butchered up, but it was still one of my favorite shows ever.

I saw S1 and loved it. I would not waste my time to watch it on SyFy, though. I can not even imagine how they will edit it to work there.

I only saw the first half of S2. It was good, but where ever I was watching it from (netflix??) didn't show the whole season. Wile it was not as good as the first season, it was still good. Not a huge Jamie Murray fan, though. I could have done with less of her.

I have never seen any of S3. I need to find a decent streaming site that has this one unedited.

ended up with three spartici was what ruined that for me. I still saw every episode, but if the same guy would have played sparticus the whole series it would have been much better and might have made a bigger network.

Andy Witfield is who started as Spartacus....and was perfect....died from cancer.

I can`t remember the guys name that replaced him in the role.....but he just didn`t live up to it Andy.....the show was still good though.

Loved season one and two (prequel season). Season 3 was good but not as great and season four was OK. We all knew Spartacus was going to die.

I agree... those were the best. The first season with Andy as Spartacus.....then the short season when Andy was sick and they were waiting to see what was going to happen.

I also lost quite a bit of interest that 3 season because you knew it was the end.

I watched the first season a few years back (I think it was about the time it first aired) and just finished watching the second season. I am now going back to watch the first season again since it has been so long.

Great show! I know the tenor of the show totally changes in seasons 3 and 4, but I look forward to getting through the entire 1st season again so I can get those started.

Anyone watch all 4 seasons? Does it fully jump the shark, or is it still worth it into the last 2 seasons?

I don't remember it 100% clearly but I remember loving the first season, I thought it was terrific. Just sucks that the lead actor died from cancer, I completely lost interest when they had to change the actor who played Spartacus.

Yeah, that was tragic. S2 was a prequel surrounding House Batiata (sp?) as they hoped Whitfield recovered. When he succumbed, they had to bight the bullet and recast the lead. I hope the replacement did it justice.

Andy Whitfield was great. The dude they got to replace him did a good job but there was just no replacing Andy.
Even with that, the series was pretty good. Lots of blood and naked women will keep you tuned in. The writing/stories got thin at times but always seemed to recover with the next show.

And if you know history you know how it ends. That always sat in the back of my mind while watching the last episodes but they did a decent job with it.

It just seemed to get "overly dramatic" after Andy Whitfield died. Somewhere between over acting and unbelievable sometimes.

It was a bummer after Whitfield died and they switched actors. It took some getting used to, but the new guy did a good job. I loved all 4 seasons and I have watched them a few times a piece already.

The actor who portrayed Spartacus, is the Weather Wizard.
The actor who portrayed Crixus is Deathstroke/Slade Wilson.
The actress who portrayed Crixus' girlfriend is Amanda Waller of ARGUS/Suicide Squad.

There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now.

I was aware of Manu Bennett, but I was unaware of the other crosses.

One actress I noticed from S2 was Doctorai's wife is Danny's partner in Blue Bloods. In Blue Bloods, she has exactly ZERO sex appeal (primarily, I think, because of her bangs) while in Gods of the Arena, she was HAWT!

Spartacus's new girl was also in arrow. Much like arrow, Spartacus was great at first, then started to suck near the end. All the slow motion fighting with cgi blood just got old for me. It sucks that Whitfield died, I didn't know that was the case, but the last few seasons wouldn't have been very good no matter what.

I never got used to the new actor after the original died. I did like the story all the way through though.
