Yeah, I don't even understand what's going on with Mazara. Like, I never would have bet money on him panning out.

That being said...

This is a guy whose only positive through his first few years is his massive raw power and mammoth home runs. He came here, hit for the same average/OBP, but somehow turned into a punchy singles hitter. His slugging percentage is .284 (LOL).

For a guy that has hit a 500 foot HR, he sure is not hitting anything hard.

I would have agreed with you if this was a couple of weeks ago. But EE has actually been performing solidly as of late. He's also a groove hitter (and a late starter) - so I like our previous alignment and riding him while he's hot. McCann also has never performed when turned into an every day player, but we won't go down that road

I ain’t gonna argue much because I like Edwin. He’s just doin us pretty dirty. .179 is pathetic any way you slice the breakdown. We’re 40 games in now. Not being unfair at this point.

With Cleveland losing again, we now have a one game lead on them and the Twins. Another needed day off tomorrow and then Giolito takes the mound Friday for the start of the final series against the Tigers. Keuchel's back must be a little more stiff than usual, as he's not scheduled to pitch until Monday against the Twins. So as of today, there are no announced starters for Saturday and Sunday. Wonder who they're gonna trot out there. Bernardo Flores is probably one of them, but no idea who the other starter will be. Anyone hear something more specific or have a guess?

Nice blasting of the Pirates last night. Dane Dunning is a keeper - he's a righty, but his demeanor on the mound and his approach to batters reminds me of Mark Buehrle.

From day to day Renteria's lineups and decisions are head scratchers, but in the long run - he has managed to make everybody on the roster feel like part of the team - which results in contributions like those made by McCann, Mazara, Mendick and Madrigal.

A well deserved day off for the Sox today - then beat the Tigers.
